My forethought seems to have escaped me. Is there a way to run the belt-driven water pump without the PS pump attached for tensioning? I will be running an electric power steering pump.

Short belt around crank pulley and water pump pulley FTW.

Measure with string and take it to AutoZone to match one up.

You can use a shorter belt and mess around with the tensioners. I have a picture let me see if I can dig it up.

Mess around how? Relocate/reangle?

Look up gs14racer's setup on his s14. I think I remember him saying he flipped the water pump/ps pump tensioner around and made it work.

I remember reading someone used a different tensioner on the PS tensioner, maybe one for the alternator...

Searching FTW!

"Fabbed up an alternator bracket for the 240sx alternator, and used the old vh45 a/c tensioner flipped upside down and sideways to tension the whole assembly. The powersteering will work right above the alternator however i just want to drive the car at this point so ill make the bracket later, haha"

Interesting approach.

Thanks for the lead guys--wouldn't have found it without you.

Keep in mind that he made his own alternator bracket to move it back a space n the crank. I would think you could probably get that same tensioner setup to work with with a short belt looped around the water pump and crank.

If you do the same thing as that pic of GS14racer's, you could use the KA ribbed pulley from the A/C bracket, and run the belt along the outside of the pulley.

Thank you for posting the pic, and info. That is going to make my life a lot easier when tring to mount the alt, a/c. Always better to have seen what works on someones ride, before you have to do your own, especially when simple works.

Is that sweet looking VH going into a Z32? I hope you have fitted it first because those mani's are wayyy too wide to fit. I don't know what you have planned so excuse me if you are doing something I don't know about.

Damn nice looking build though!!!

Haha, now now, if that were my build I wouldn't have the water pump belt problem, would I?
