I still have a set of 2002 Power Stops drilled on the front after 75,000 miles they are just below spec but I am reluctant to part with them.........just keep the pad depth above minimum 2mm.
Found this while reading and was wondering if this means q45tech is using rotors from a 2002 Q45?

NOPE! I purchased the front drilled Powerstops [Q45 standard size] in summer of 2002 and indexed them with Brake Align shim plates that let me level them to 0.0008" from the unshimmed 0.004" this 5x improvement in flatness [3 x better than oem max] has greatly reduced the warp error cut amount over the 83,000 miles of use.

Because of the number of retrues they are significantly below oem spec and mandate that the pads MUST be changed BEFORE minimums are reached.

All a big experiment in rotors and pads [I've used 4 different types]

I still remove rotors, fine cut, and reindex them with the same almost 6 year old Brake Align shims every 6-8,000 miles.

I wouldn't recommend this unless you have your own shop and time on your hands.....................much less expensive to just buy Centric Premium Black Hat rotors and replace them at/every 40,000 miles.

My last 2 pads have been U91 oem type, others were U93 and Metal Masters at start of test.

Rear rotors are Centric Blacks currently and U85 oem pads. All calipiers have been rebuilt [more than once] with new flexlines.

Follow the runout measuring methods in FSM, mark rotor for highest spot and use the brake align to correct to PERFECTION..............the premium Centric will be so so much better than almost any other brand except oem from Dealer................they are an almost perfect copy and at $75 are much less expensive.

Hard to index rears [takes another person to turn drive shaft] so just use good rotors and skip Brake Align on rears.

Thank you very much Dennis. I'm always taking notes

I just looked up the price of the oem rotors on Joe's site and they are $80 for the front and $98 for the rear.

I have 3 old Q45's - my '93 has the oversize 300z calipers and rotors - looks nice but IMO doesn't perform as well as stock - lacks feel and takes more pedal pressure. On my '90 I added stainless brake lines, high performance pads and new Brembo rotors, which produced, IMO, the finest brakes I've ever known. I am 30,000 into these, with no noticeable decline in quality.

It was noted in the forum that drilled or slotted rotors could not be turned - if so, standard rotors might give a longer service life. My Brembos are not drilled or slotted.

Thanks for sharing Jim. What brand stainless lines and pads do you have on your 90?

Drilled and slotted can be easily turned IF you have a PROFESSIONAL STRONG and RIGID enough brake lathe. You must use a NEW PREMIUM BIT SET..................this adds costs and adds time and labor a generic place may want to skip or at least charge real money to compensate.

Yes. OEM repacement on the FYG33 but not plated so corroded, plated Stillen Brembo plated replacement on G50.

The G50 should have required turning 30K miles ago. Still can't detect any pulsing vibration.

I was seriously considering spending the $7K to get AP racing big brake kit, but in my type of driving with the Stillen Brembo, it would be a waste of money. Now if I lived out west with mountains and high speeds, a different story.
