I got a set for my car, but it won't fit. Anyone has experience with them? Bought from Phase2, but what they say is my installation was wrong. I doubt it cuz I followed the instruction and I know I did it right. Please give me some help...

You know, if you had just looked in the Articles section you would have found a cheaper alternative. Jon (srpowered240sx) did a write up on how to make your own, and CS kinda copied it a few months later and made this kit.

Bracket and stock bolt hole line up like this.

I had to cut the bracket to make it fit like this.

Look at the windshield side.

Looks like this.

No, I haven't seen his write up. I did see this one. CS dampers would work if I stack washers like this, but I don't want to do that. phase2 told me that they are direct bolt-on, so I bought a set. They are claiming that it's installed wrong and I doubt that.

Thats the link to the how to

And I think you might have them installed wrong... How exactly do you expect a shock to have enough pressure in it to lift your hood from 6" of the pivot point? You never take basic grade 7 Science?

The picture you posted also leads me to believe that you didn't install them correctly, look where the damper bracket is placed on the hood in that picture. Its about a foot or more away from the hinges.

Either they're right and you've got it installed wrong, or the kit is totally useless.

Instruction came with it and yes, I installed just like the pictures. I even switched the direction of damper body. Both ways didn't work.

yeah if you look at the diagram on the installation manual, where the the damper attaches to the hood, the hole in the bracket was drilled the opposite way compared to the one you have. thats why you had to cut it. i suggest returning that damper since it is clearly defective in the first place.

Yes, that's it, and another issue is damper body is hitting the fender, so my hood hinge raises up. I emailed phase2 last night and waiting to hear from them.

Haha. That picture is of my install. FYI, those are not washers. They are longer grade 8 bolts with female to female threaded NPT pipe fittings from Home Despot.

I have no clue what is up with the CS kit, but how I did it works awesome. It is one of my favorite modifications I have done, and that is saying a lot!

Hopefully. these pics will clear things up. As you can see, this kit will never work on s13. It'll work if you raise the hood like rico05 did, but not everyone wants to do that. I want stock looks.

I flipped it.

Yup! I wish I saw your write up. If you search 'hood damper' in nico only rico05's write up shows up. Yours is working great because you used a damper in right length. Too bad, phase2 and circuit sports don't know what they are selling. Actually, it was $112 shipped.

Phase2 just authorized return and I'll ship them out tomorrow. I hope they test fit mine on another s13 and understand my issues.

srpowered240sx,Can you tell me exact length of damper, model #, brand, price, where to buy and such? It'd be great if you can measure and tell us where the holes are at.

I returned it and they confirmed that they received it 2 weeks ago, but no refund yet and not replying to my emails. Just opened a Paypal dispute. It's just so frustrating.
