From what I have read on there site all you have to put into the car is the engine, drive-train, and some wheels. The tricky part is trying to get one of the 500 California smog excempt stickers.... Hmmm... They also sell S15's. That would be as easy as dropping in a ka motor, getting it smogged and registers, then swapping in a S15 motor.themadscientist wrote:once you assemble it it's still a Skyline. Let's see here. You appear out of nowhere to sing the praises of a company being scrutinized in your very first post. You do not have a car from them just good feelings. And, you speak about a company that is long since shut down by the feds as if it is still in existence which speaks to exactly how cognizant you are of reality. More red flags then a Russian may day parade.90_rb20 wrote:I was very close to buying a Kaizo car about a month ago. It was advertised as a "2007 Nissan Skyline GTR Vspec. I thoroughly researched the way they do the importing process and it is 100% legal. No government issues what so ever. They do it the same way that the Noble is done.
They are a good company, but once you calculate the prices on everything, price for labor if you're not an wrench turner, you're looking at a 65-75K price tag upon completion. Cars are very nice, saw one first hand, they have Kaizo VIN plates, and come with a Kit Car registration number.
If you have the money I say its not that big of a deal, and it beats waiting on Customs and MotoRex to get you your car.

madscientist,
You really need to visit Kaizo Industries in person and talk to Daryl. It think it would be an eye opener for you. A certain very knowlegable person in the industry that used to work for MotoRex & RB Motors paid a visit to his facility trying to poke holes in his system and couldn't find anything illegal. He actually congratulated him on "cracking that nut".
hope everything is well with you.

LOL... I am currently talking to Daryl about buying his S15 Spec-R. I wish I had the money for the R34 he has, but a nice weekend driving S15 will do me just fine. And I agree with you, Daryl is a stand up guy and is very well known in SoCal for his Skylines. I have been talking to a few tuners around SoCal and they all know of Daryl and sing his praises. I know he sold the Blue R34 GT-R to Universal Pictures for The Fast and Furious 4 movie. I will keep the forums posted on my possible S15 purchase.Okinawa_BNR34 wrote:

I don't know. I am trying to buy one from a guy that has already put a motor and drive-train in one. He is asking $35k, but Im sure him and I can work something out.dillards1234 wrote:how much is an s15 chassis??
Wow, good stuff. Thank you for doing a bit of digging on this, we all benefit.90_rb20 wrote:At risk of making myself look like an ******* I made some calls pertaining to Kaizo.
1) Daryl has a very good setup and a very expedited process for Skylines. 2) This being said, his tactics are still not impressing or seeping by some higher ups involved in the importing process.3) The kit car process that he is calling his method, is currently being used on other cars such as Cobras, and Nobles, but in a totally different way.
What Ive gathered confirms what one person has already elaborated on, and thats the fact that the cars that are currently being sold as kit cars did NOT roll off of an assembly line from the actual car manufacturer. They are reproduced to a high standard. Kaizos cars however, did start their life after rolling off of an assembly line.
Also, theres no definite answer as to wether these cars will be crushed upon decisions made by the deciding party, and there is no one willing to comment on his process until more information is released.
This being said, Im not going to knock the system he has going on, but also, i will not being attaining an imported car from him until it is OFFICIALLY recognized by the aforementioned parties. Still undecided on how close they are to even being valued as a kit, and not a "puzzle car" where you just have to add the missing pieces.
My dad's friend has dealer tags in NJ and he was explaing to me that he coudl basically go out and get any car and put the tags on and it would then become legal under his insurance and all that fun stuff. I don't remember how it works exactly but the tags are awesome. I used them to drive my 240 about an hour or so with non-functioning brake lights and no inspection sticker and no one stopped me. Any way he was telling me that his insurance is super expensive though or something like that.Unstroked wrote:I guess where i will have a one up is that I am currently working on getting my dealers license and with that comes dealer plates...
