im in over my head here guys. im lookin at a set of sportmax oo6 wheels... the ones im thinkin of will be 18x9.5 (rear) and 18x8.5 (front) my understanding is both sizes are a +35 offset. my car is going to be lowered to where the fender is an inch or less over the tire. if i use 225/35/18 and 215/35/18 on these wheels i end up still wanting to be sure of two things:

one- will they fit? two - will the tires look the same height off the wheel or do i need to go with a lower treadwidth to stretch them a lil more?

please forgive me if this could be classified as a stupid question ... this is my first rwd car and searching didnt help me mutch

If these are for your 97', then you don't need to run stretched tires. You can easily run a 265 or 275 on that 9.5" if you want. Then a 245 in the front. Those are are not aggressive wheel choices for that car what so ever though. If you are going for the stretched look then it's not going to look good with those high offsets and narrow wheels.

I dont know how much of a stretch you want but your front setup will have a slight stretch and your rears are going to be stretched a good amount. If your going for a stretch look I would go with this tire setup: Fronts- 215/40R18 Rear-225/40R18. The ride height between these two are off by maybe .20 inch so it will be slightly higher in the rear.

sounds great man.... thats exactly what i wanted to know.

yeah not really loking for the "stretched look"... just really like these rims and want to use them if they fit.... i assume that i wont need spacers -correct?

i might decide to go lower than what i said eventually... i assume thats not going to change mutch. now all i need to know is what would be the proper treadwith just to be "square" on eatch of those (8.5 and 9.5)... yknow... not overhanging the lip, just even with it.

On the 9.5" a 265 tire would be "square" as you put it. That's what I run on my 9.5's. I use to run a 275 on my 10's. The front would also be "square" with a 245 on a 8.5"

This is what a 265 looks like on the 9.5...... if that pleases you then you are golden.

Those are 265/35 18's

I'm not an expert on the S14's seeing as I own a S13, but you can definitely go wider than I can. So I will let someone else comment on the spacer.

I have an s13, but should be close... see my sig, 18x9.5 +20 with a 225/40 federal. Something different than broadfields. I think an s14 gives you around 5mm more of fender room, but i could be wrong. just trying to help, if not, good luck.

You wont need any spacers if you run these tires with your rim setup. Front Tires 245/40R18, Rear Tires 275/35R18. This is pretty much a square/flush setup on a S14. This setup is basically for max grip all around. If you dont have rolled fenders in the rear you could run the 265/35 for minumum clearance.

On my Q45 when I had it I ran a 225/30 on 20x8.5 it was a weak stretch. I would run the 215/35 225/35 and 25mm spacers at least.

here is a couple from the 240 to give an idea

215/35 18x9.5-22

225/40 18x9.5 -22

That **** looks Crazy. Do you run a higher risk of tire failure rollin like that?? I would be scared as hell taking a sharp corner.

Wow, can you say unafe at any speed?

Obviously ignorant of how a pneumatic tire functions.

Obviously ignorant of how a quality wheel is constructed.

The out side "bead seat" is the same diameter for the whole outer barrel. For that tire to come unseated, the tire must travel 4.75" to the center of the wheel.

I need help too! I just got some sportmax 006s, 18x9.5 in the rears, 18x8.5 in the front. offset +35, what size tires can I get away without rolling the fender and will I need spacers? Car has Tein springs and Tokico shocks, stock fenders.

I was thinking maybe...

235/40/18 fronts 255/35/18 rearsor225/40/18 fronts 255/40/18 rears

Will 265s fit in the rear without rubbing?
