sooooooooooo.........ive been saving for a little over a year towards my investment in my 2nd 240 with no rust. learned from my mistakes. well, back in june-ish, i found my first good deal, 1200, auto-e, but rust free and i would use my parts from the 91 to swap. well, i had 900, offered, he said 1200 firm. so i saved up for another month and a half (keeping up with bills and putting away the rest), and i called him up with the full 1200. "sorry, im not selling it, im having problems with my truck". wtf, so pissed. so i sold my car for 900 to use towards my next hatch. fast forward to TODAY. ive been making this deal with a guy through craigslist, pics sent, several phone calls, asked for his vin (+ carfaxed) so i could get insurance, plate it, and drive it back. all is good, i actually insure this car send him an email and a phone call again to let him know its a done deal i'll be down tuesday. tonight i get home, email waiting "BAD NEWS, CANT SELL THE CAR". his "truck is on the fritz". WTF!!! why does this **** always happen, is it just me or is everyone ****ing ignorant when it comes to selling cars. SELL THE CAR OR NOT!! there is a lot of time and money invested into purchasing a car, making plans, going without, compromising. then some mother****er at the last minute bails. ugh, anyone else going through this, or am i the only one that had the one chance...

don't let it get to you, maybe it wasn't right for you and you will find a better deal.

I know I was looking for a car for about 6 months, my choices were between 240sx and an Integras. I found a really low mileage, one owner, clean/stock, rust free Integra for a really low price that had been traded in at a nice dealership about 40 miles from me. I called while I was in between classes and told a salesman I could be up there at a certain time to purchase the car. He told me he would not sell it and to ask for him when I got there. I called before I went, he told me everything was still okay, and upon my arrival he was in the middle of doing the paperwork on the car for another customer. I drove an hour out of my way with a few thousand dollars in my pocket to buy a car someone else was in the middle of buying.

Needless to say, about a week or so later I found my 93 convertible for sale even closer to me in good condition but for even cheaper than the integra had been. It was clearly a much better buy and all it took was a little patience to find.

Nah, I always have cash on hand when I go to look at the car thoroughly. I offer what I think its worth in cash, and depending on how much they need money they'll take it right there. I don't know what you're doing wasteing your time with picures and ****, the only way to tell if a car is legit is in person, not carfax, emails and pics...

im not wasting my time trust me, there are NO 240's in my area. i check craigslist daily, ebay, and here. this was 4 hours away and the only time i had to go down was tuesday. if it were that easy i would have one already. there isnt a 240 in a junkyard in the top half of new york. way too ****ing scarce.

i havent had a car since b4 thanksgiving, took the deal at the right time. rusting/rotted badly, way beyond worth investing. 240s are rediculously rare here, im quite jealous of everyone out of this area. if you guys only knew...

In Mississippi there are only 6-10 S14 chassis', 3 of them being kouki models.

And I too, went to purchase a Integra, when I got there - another guy got there and already had purchased it. I walked up to the guy and asked him why.

He said "Because you said you were looking for a 240"

As the integra pulled away, there sat the car I now own. Don't give up on the search man - - -- you know just as well as everyone else that its worth it in the end.

Think of it this way - you wouldn't get all the attention at the big ricer meets in parking lots if you were driving just another tegi. . .

lol. im by no means giving up, its just selling ethics that some people have. if you have a car for sale, sell the ****ing car to the person thats interested. a lot of time and saving goes into buying a car. anyone that works for there money knows what i mean. just ****ing annoying. well at least i'll have more money to spend when the time comes.

sorry to hear that man. lucky for me i found both cars i bought locally. the sellers were also very serious about selling their cars. i guess it sucks that you would have to travel far to purchase the car and it's unfortunate that 240's sell VERY fast (unless seller is asking too much) so you'll probably end up getting there too late. it also doesn't help that you aren't looking to pay top $, so i guess you'll have to keep waiting until the right one pops up. either way man good luck i'm sure you'll find one sooner or later.

i know, im always on the classifieds grind here, daily. definatly dont want to overpay, but im not gonna buy ****, or someone elses project. i think when the time comes down, i'll be looking to spend 2200-2800 for a clean/stock 91-93 and screw the e's all together. oh, i have 2150 to be exact lol. so i am definatly "in" the market, just waiting... maybe another k will do it.

but yea, be happy that he didnt sell the car to someone else...he probally will sell it eventually...so just save up some more money for it and than buy it and get some sweet parts for it :p.....sooner or later he WILL sell it, unless he's a huge douche bag.

This similar situation happened to me too, when i was on the search for a s-chasis(at craigslist). I've drove out 30-40 mi away from home and checked out a s13 during night time. It was a done deal, the next day i gave him a call and he replied that the car was impounded because of no plate. He asked for extra $ to take the s13 out the lot, obviously i said no. Like a few weeks later, the exact car was for sale but from a different seller. So the reason for the new seller to resell the s13 was because of hella **** being wrong with it. There were bunch of electrical problem, broken gas gauge, bent frame, and etc. Moreover, look on the bright side and don't get jacked by these scandalous sellers.

Anyways you shouldn't worry about losing out on this deal because theres always better s-chasis deal. Just be patient and pray everyday pay the little extra if you found the right one

That guy is probably glad he sold it so he didn't have to deal with this kind of demented thinking/behavior.

Geez, it's a free market out there and people who put things on Craigslist usually do so because they need money and fast. I've heard in many cases where a person will list 2 or 3 vehicles they own and simply sell the first one to get the cash they need. So you can't spend too much time analyzing a car before buying from places like Craigslist.

who licenses and insures newly purchased cars?? ive driven cars 7 hours accross a state with no windshield, let alone insurance. good luck, keep at it, you'll find one eventually. but heed my advice, do not commit until you are there, driving the car.

i agree, i never gave him cash, i just got the insurance so i didnt have to **** with it there. if it turned out to be a pile, i would have kept my cash anyway. i cancelled my insurance and turned my plates in when i sold my car so i figured why not get the insurance now so it makes it that much easier when the time comes. it really isnt that bad of a loss, when time comes all i gotta do is get plates.
