New Transmission at 39K miles...

My service light came on yesterday!

I took it to the dealer this morning and they said it needs another new clutch... a new transmission, and like 4 other things..

They said something when wrong with a computer, and the slave cylinder that i had replaced like 1100 miles ago; as well as a clutch has now gone bad that was put in due to a bad slave cylinder 1100 miles ago.

What a mess, The gears don't have a gate that syns the transmission with the drive line. The computer isn't lineing up the gears properly..

And Yes It is a 6speed

Unless there is something different about Infiniti manual transmissions, the only thing that moves the gears around is your hand on the shift lever. Automatic transmissions are controlled by computers, but not manuals.

If the clutch slave cylinder failed to separate the clutch plate properly, I can see how that would ruin the clutch and transmission. Make sure they look at the flywheel since that may be damaged, too.

At least it's still under warranty.

They told me it was a computer problem... and like 4 other things that caused the problem... I Drove my car home from the dealer until they get the transmisson. Then i called them becasue it had a hard time getting it into 5th and 6th gear... So i took it back to infiniti and got a loaner...

Nice loaner, 07 G35 sedan. I like it a lot, The interior. The out side looks great too. I hate the gold color lol

I tell you one thing... The Auto transmissons Sucks Bad. It never gets the right gear, and when you floor it and you accelerate.... and you let off of the gas to cruise... it takes forever to find the 5th gear!

6mt is the way to be...

I saw a guy with a Black 2007 G35 Sedan 6MT Loaded... Nav, Tech, Sport, Spoiler.... The works. He got it 5 months ago and it was in the show room. 33500 OTD... I will be getting a new one soon!

Sounds like he got a great deal?!?!

Heres a tip for the auto, turn off the VDC and shift it manually.... the best is when you down shift to pass at speed it blips the throttle and sounds soooo good when it does it!

Bummer! I feel your pain. I'll turn 45k miles by the end of this week. So far knock on wood, no problems. My G will be 2 years old New Years Eve. In two years the only problems I've had were one defective Tire Pressue sensor and one defective drivers side Air bag sensor both repaired under warranty.

Yea.. I used the manual... That is the smoothest. and the VDC is always off!

I heard that Because it is being fixed under warranty that it is covered for life or something like that...

Slave cylinder, Clutch, transmission...

Those are the only things that would be major expence to fix out of warranty on a 6MT

Legally an automobiles life is 10 years or 100k whichever occurs first, but the warranty is 6/70k so if something is replaced under warranty the 70k is the limit, except that any new part has its own 12k/12 month separate warranty. If you get a warranty replacement at 69,999 miles the new part would be covered until 81,999 miles.

You can purchase a Nissan extended warranty until 100k.

Yea got my G35 back last week... I hate INFINITI OF TAMPA. DON"T BY A CAR FROM THEM OR GET IT SERVICED THERE!

First of all they Never called me when my car was Done. I waited like a week and then i called about the car. No one could give me an answer about the car and everyone had a different answer.

I live like 50 miles from the infiniti dealer so i didn't want to drive to Infiniti of Tampa if i didn't have to and look for my car to get the answer. I shouldn't have to do that. So the guy i spoke with in service said that I would get a call when the car is done. I said ok...

I called on the day after christmas to check on the car... It has now been 2 weeks and a few days that they have my car. I remembered that my power outlet in the dash stoped working so i asked them to fix it and if the car was done with the transmission work.

The guy said yea we finished it like a week ago! and that they called me.

I told the guy, I never got a call because i live by my phone and I never got any call from the Dealership about my car being ready.

He said to me. "well sometimes the technology doesn't work properly and we miss calls"

Then he said well you have 24 hrs after we call you to bring back the loaner car.

Im like ok so i will bring it right in. Then he tells me that they called 10 days ago and that i owe them 45 bux a day plus tax for keeping the loaner. for a total of $481.00

I was like F*** you! I am not paying anything. I told them that i was coming to the dealership to pick up my car!

When i get there I had a fit. I asked for the service manager. He told me there was nothing he could do about the charge that it had to be paid in full or i wouldn't get my car back.

I beat him down to 300 bux on the deal. I went and paid for it. No sweat off my back... I will be seeing Infiniti of Tampa in Small Claims Court with my Phone Record... I have detailed Billing. If they called i will see the number on the bill! If it isn't there i Will get my money back!

After all this i get out to my car and it looks like they drove it across the desert and parked it in the rain forest. It had twigs, leaves, mud and bird S*** on it.

I walked back inside and lost my mind. I am normally a Professional Guy but after the 300 bux i was fit to be tied.

I said to the guy. "This is F***ing BULL S***. 300 Dollars later and I get my car back and it looks like you parked it in a forest. There is bird S*** all over it and leafs in all the cracks and Hard water marks on the paint! YOU TAKE YOUR MONKEY *** OUT THERE AND F***ing GET MY CAR CLEANED YA PRICK, AND IF IT DON'T COME BACK PERFECT I WILL MAKE SURE YOU DON'T SELL A F ***ing INFINIT FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR. THAT ISN'T A THREAT ITS A F***ing PROMUS.

The guy was like "let me get that cleaned sir" (I was thinking "yes sir... Im a F***ing Dumb A**")

I got yelled at by a woman that was walking by that worked at INFINIT of Tampa. So i told her i am sorry just a little pissed right now! and asked her for a Beer so she was cool!

Then the car comes back........

I walk out and do an inspection of the car. It got over spraied red paint on the back of the car... Like a fine mist. I knew it wasn't there before because i had just Clay Bared the G before i took it into have the transmission Fixed.

At this point I just started because this was like a F***ing Joke!

I made them take my car back to detail and Clay Bar the whole Car.

Luckly when it came back the guy in detail did a good job on the car.

So i leave thinking this can't get any worse!

The clutch is so nice, becasue it is new! lol

Well i have to drive on the Interstate to get home... so using 5th and 6th gears is important. Well Now for the next problem. When shifting from 4th to 5th the shifter gets cought in the Reverse Gate. Never did this before.

And it pisses me off about this because it is a habbit to just lean it all the way to the right and up when going to 5th gear. It is like if i could put it in Reverse with out pushing the shifter down to open the reverse gate.

Does anyone have this problem with a 6mt or can you just shift into the far right and up with out it getting cought on the R gate when going to 5th Gear.??????

I didn't take the car back becasue i didn't want to deal with infiniti of tampa. I am going to take it to Lokey Infiniti... In Clearwater FLA.

I will keep you guys posted on the progress on this mission...

Tampa G35 Sedan 6MTWhat a pain in the *** that dealer is. I can't imagine you not wanting your car back, choosing instead to let it sit in some dealer lot. One suggestion.Small Claims Court. I'm sure that there will be a check coming your way if you do. Take it to one of those television judges so we can all watch!Good Luck.

Man that is horrible to hear that about you luck with the local Infiniti dealer. Sounds like they tried to hide the red paint with dirt. Small Claims Court is good...what about a local TV trouble shooter?? I would also keep a record on the days you called and if you can remember who you spoke with each time you checked on your car.

I think that is they are trying to stick you with the loaner fee. If I was the dealership and someone had my car, I would be calling everyday to get the loaner car back.

Hope you have the chance to do some donuts in it before you turned it back to them!! haha

WOW! I just got pissed off for the first time in the new year reading this post

Take you vehicle back to that dealer and make an appointment to speak to the owner, CEO or whoever is at the top. Dress neatly & start out speaking softly, calmly but firmly with all your facts.I'm assuming you paid the improper loaner charge by credit card. Contact the credit card company & tell them of this unauthorized charge. You will have to put your dispute in writing. Ask the dealer for the "Call Detail Report" from their phone system. This will show the extension that made the call, the number dialed, the date and time as well as the outgoing trunk line that carried the call. If they can't produce it that is tought S#@tYou need to include this info to the credit card company as they will conduct an investigation & if the dealer can't prove they called you the credit card company will issue a charge back & you'll get your refund.Probably a letter to Infiniti headquarters if all does not end well for you may help?

Well I did do many donuts. Bout 5 mins worth of black smoke... You could see the rubbe on the wheel wells...LOL

And i drove it to MD from FLA to get a Jeep That I bought my sister for Xmas... She Just turned 16 and my parents are having some hard times and didn't have the money to buy her a car!

I got the car with about 8025 miles... I gave it back with about 12800....

So in the long run it was worth the 300 bux..... But it is not the money it is the principle that they didn't call me when the car was ready.... Becasue if it was i would have driven my G35 to MD... lol
