Hey guys, picked up a 5 speed 175,000k mile 92 s13 earlier today. Since I'm a car newb, who have only learned how to drive stick today. What are some ways I can protect my car from being stolen? my car comes with no alarm at all. I want some wheel locks to protect my tires from getting stolen, but I have no idea what size wheel locks to get. What else should I buy to protect my car? Any suggestions?

Thanks EstoMax. I'll pick up some tomorrow. Anyone think a "Club" steering wheel lock is good?

Wait longer than an hour for a reply.. some of us our out stealing a car right now! J/K

If it is stock I wouldnt think you have a thing to worry about. If you have it tricked out then do the smart thing and leave it unlock so they dont bust a window or pop a lock. Okay enough jokes....wheel locks dont really work any one knows you tap a socket a size smaller onto the lock and it comes right off.

Fuel cut switchCar alarm with paging systemDont be stupid.. dont leave your car running when running into the store.dot park out in BFE so you dont get a car door to the side of yoursKeep an eye out for people taking great interest in your car. Some one that asks to see your car more than once I would question. Get Lojack.

A magnetic reed switch will keep a stupid thief from starting it. Let me see if I can find the write-up....

Damnit, I can't find it, but there is a very simple write-up on the web that utilizes a hidden magnetic reed switch wired with the ignition/fuel. You keep a magnet on your keychain and when armed the car won't start unless you pass the magnet by the switch that can be hidden anywhere you wish.

I'd love to see a fuel cut-off switch programmed to one of those handy little cards that they put in Mercs. You know, the cards they use for keyless ignition and stuff. Walk away with the card, switch turns off, walk back with card, switch turns on!

I've got a shock sensor on my 240, i have no clue how it works but it's always armed and i guess it goes off if the car gets rocked to much...i dunno i have to look into it, but my Z has a mean security system and i'm about to add glass detectors...i would definitely arm your car

for wheel locks, go to pepboys or autozone or whatever auto parts store and get mcguard. as for alarms, clifford/dei products work well. or if you don't want the hassle, just get lo jack.

you can do the fuel cut off switch but if your not good with wires, you could seriously f' up something down there. up to u. pick your poison.
