I use Valvoline Durablend (synthetic blend) 10W30. Full synthetic is not really worth the extra cost unless you start using it early in the car's life.

A little late to be worrying about finding the "best" oil in a well worn 14 year old motor= fresh oil in the right weight range, changed every 90 days is probably more than it has ever received!

I recently serviced my car and put synthetic in it. I thought that is what those cars required like all other nice cars.

I have been using mobil 1 full synthetic 0w-40. Change it every 90 days or 3750 miles.

synthetic blends are a rip-off. Very little of the oil is actually synthetic (around 5%, give or take). I use Wal Mart brand "Super Tech" oil and their filters aren't bad either. I sometimes use Wix filters though. The super tech synthetic is what I use in the BMW. No real reason for that, but I figured I'd keep using synthetic in it because it had such low miles and the previous owner used synthetic.

Durablend (synthetic blend) 10W30I started at 130k miles... and im keeping it that way.!!! i did notice one thing.. regualar 10-30 oil burns fast in these cars.. especially my 93. I find myself after approx 90 days, having to add half a quart till i make it to the shop. Sometimes, i need a whole quart. SAE 30 is too heavy, i think thats also wat messed up my 93. And also, my mech uses Valvoline filter and oil Dura Blend, and he owns at least 5 90-93 Q45s ( maybe more) and 1 '94 Q45.

I used Valvoline 10w 30 durablend as well and noticed it takes away the morning start ticking of the lifters. Its been good for me so I keep using the same.

Mobil One 10W-30 kinda expensive when u get the filter too and the fact of it being too late sucks but still it makes you feel like your motor wont be harsh to you since you were nice while feeding and lubing it when it comes to driving hard = ]

Mobil1 from Costco or Sam's and M1 filters from Joe are a lot less expensive than major engine repair!

I am using mobile 1 5w-30 but i'm about to switch over to super tech. I'm already using the super tech oil filter. I just found out that the walmart in my area super tech oil's is made by pennzoil/quakerstate! No need for me spending extra dollars. Like manix stated, FRESH oil is the best to use. The key to long engine/car life is to change ALL of your fluids on schedule. Also found out that some of the walmart's on the east coast, their super tech oil is made by ExxonMobile!! Here is proof http://msds.walmartstores.com/cache/26901_1.pdf

Just wish I was in that area because I know for sure that I wouldn't buy anything but that (super tech that is)!! If the product is an API SM/GF-4 rated Motor Oil its the same. I'm not expert, but I think that's true. Same as some people generic otc drugs are inferior to its name brand counterparts which is not true (my brother is a pharmacist). Generic drugs have to past the same FDA specs as name brand drugs. You are paying for marketing. Also NAPA oil is made my Valvoline, atleast the one in my area.
