So about a month ago I got my manual swap done at a shop. The speed sensor hadn't arrived then and I needed the car so I picked up the car and they told me they'd install it when the sensor came a few days later.
The sensor came and they installed it, but then there was a problem. They told me that there was a gear that was attached to the sensor and it's not working properly (i'm guessing the new speed sensor didnt' come with the gear?) and so it's still giving me false mph. (reads double).
So I'm still waiting for them to let me know when they get the gear in (told me it was backordered) but i find it fishy that the one that was already there doesn't work. Also, where can i find this "gear" and does anyone have a pic of the s.sensor and the gear? I have no idea how it looks like. I'm getting tired of waiting and my odo going up like 3x as fast.
basically if anyone could shed some light on the speed sensor and the gear and where to find one would help me out a lot...thanks guys.

You've got the wrong speed sensor, let me scronge around in my geerage I have an extra somewhere, give me ur info and I'll mail it to u.

i have that same problem but i cant seam to get the right sensor. the dealer says there is only one sensor but i have seen where there are many different gear for the unit. i bought about 3 or 4 sensor already.

You need to use the speed sensor that matches your gauge cluster. I have a s14 with a s13 manual tranny. I had to get an s14 speed sensor because the s13 sensor made the speed show double.

hey i did a s13 tranny swap into my s14, if anyone has an extra speed sensor for a 96 se let me know, does it really matter what size wheels you have and all that cause that kind of makes since to me i just never took that into consideration when i pulled that speed sensor out of a hatchback

Anyone know where to get the gear? I bought the S14 speed sensor from autozone and the S13 and the auto gears both don't work on the sensor

ive got the same problem s13 tranny on an s14, but no speed sensor, so no odometer or speedometer, any got any extras or anything? please let me know if you do, it would be great
