sorry about the flame bait, but id Just thought I'd share my experience with a friendly jab at the doubters :P

and I'm not saying they are "great" coils or even "good" but I am saying that i personally, have had some success with them at autocross.

and as far as my NA KA, i love puting down faster times than cars with more than twice the power!

As far as being first in my class and the 5th fastest car OVERALL of the day out of 70, i attribute to the following reasons in this order:

1.) recent experience and driver improvements2.) my tire setup3.) my suspension setup

Top fifteen:

2005 Subaru WRX STi 0:39.3171989 Honda Civic 0:39.5772006 Mitsubishi Evolution IX MR 0:39.7722005 Nissan Sentra Spec V 0:40.1071992 Nissan 240 SX 0:40.2011995 Mazda Miata 0:40.3292005 Subaru WRX STi 0:40.3591990 Honda Civic 0:40.3662001 Subaru 2.5RS 0:40.7552006 Mazda RX8 0:40.7731986 Porsche 944 0:40.833 1992 Toyota MR-2 0:40.9872006 Audi A3 S-Line 0:40.9932006 Nissan 350z 0:41.0942006 Mitsubishi Evolution 0:41.323

those are GREAT results. congrats on the placement especially with a NA KA! you obviously were more skilled with the ur car than a MAJORITY of the people out there so good stuff and props to you for sticking it to em. autocross is fun though as it really evens the playing field and allows drivers to show off their skills..............

wow, an 89 civic and a spec-v finished in front of you? those guys must have been godly in their handling ability. (more for the spec-v, ask him how many qr's he has gone through...)

Ha, the 89 civic was in the "race" class. completely stripped and race built car built by midwesthybrids, a local shop around here.

the spec-v: well he only beat me by .094 seconds The car is nicely prepped for autox use and the driver is very good. However, when you look at his times through out the day, they were all 41 seconds or slower except for this ONE run, where i had rather consistent runs with half of them at around 40.2 seconds. But that doesnt matter now does it?

That kart looks pretty fast. Good job on your placement, makes me feel better about my permanently NA KA and buying Megans. Of course I won't be track racing, I just don't want to cut my springs in half. :D

Actually, now that I think about it, your car sounds like a whiney *****. Show her the backside of your hand, and that Turbo will spin up on demand.

Megan makes some good parts (Coilovers , RUCA'S etc) , and they make some bad parts (Turbo Mani , ect.)

Sorta like TEIN , and yes , i have experience with both.

I'm running ksports... let's just say I wish I had megans again. I loved them when they were on my wrx, very good for the money and no problems for the two years they were on my car (then I sold it...no more fun in the snow )

I believe that Megan doesnt actually make their coilovers, they are made by someoen else and rebranded with the megan name. (which is a good thing)

And i thought RUCA's was one of the bad parts, with some users seeing bad welds on them?

are you referring to the rumor that the same company (chinese or Korean maybe?) manufactures both Megan and Apex coilovers to the same specs?

thats what i was thinking too, which has been proved not true

i know what u mean the last auto x i went to had a race class 89 civic hatch that was ridiculously built. he was so hardcore that he would cover his wheels in between runs to keep the heat in

congrats man, u really cleaned up. i know what u mean about rocking the na ka at events and putting down faster times than more powerful cars. my last 240 was an 89 w/ a single cam crate motor, strong as hell w/ suspension mods. i consistently beat a bwm in a higher class and also bested a corvette on one run

That's the beauty of autocross. The short length of the track typically negates any big discrepancy in power, especially with bigger, heavier cars. I've seen PLENTY of Miatas that would own a Murcielago in auto-x, but just as soon as there is a little room to move, well, recipe for smoked Miata of course.

Want to talk embarrassing? There was a few years ago in the Indy region SCCA a guy that drove a very mildly modded Dodge Neon that beat EVERYBODY. Not even an SRT-4, I mean NEON. Made me glad not to be into it hardcore. I don't think I could have lived with myself.

Well-played glitched, well-played.

if i had the skill and talent, i would pick something crappy like a spec-v or neon to add to the shame of the people i defeated.

but i would probably make sure i didnt actually own it. rental car auto-x FTW.

Thanks,

This particular event was actually held at a 1/4 mile paved oval with banked corners. It was basically 2 laps around the oval with a 3 cone slalom on one side and 4 cone slalom on the other with a couple gates on the banked turns between them. Hmm... so that means i averaged about 45 mph?

Don't give the megans too much credit, it's all driver glitched .

I run full suspension (including megan coilovers w/ swift springs), nice *** tires, (of course auto, and vert... but bleh). I'm toward the bottom half overall in my region & about last in my class for the past 2 years or so, hahaha.
