I hit a plastic construction sign that was too close to the side of the road today and it knocked my passenger side-view mirror crooked. I've found that it's still stuck on thanks to the glue, but it's definitely crooked. Once I got home, I set it back straight and now I'm just hoping that the Arizona sun will melt the glue stronger so it stays on.

Of course, I'm prepared for my hopes to be dashed, so what should I do? Is there some sort of glue I can purchase to stick it back on? Or do I need to take this to my dealership to get it fixed?

I would think you could get some Gorilla Glue and stick it back on if the original is tacky no more.

Is the side-view mirror held up only by glue? I recall some sort of snapping sound when I hit the plastic sign. I'm taking a closer look at it... and it's hard to tell if there's any plastic bits broken off.

I'm led to believe it may only be glue. Items connected by plastic tend to make a rattling sound when loose, and I've noticed that driving with my crooked side-view mirror doesn't make that sound. Instead, it makes an annoying whistling sound.

I guess I'll go to Home Depot tommorrow and get some Gorilla Glue. Seems like Home Improvment stores are what'll sell this glue.

Just to be clear, here's a picture of the portion that's crooked. I don't think it's a Q45, but this side-mirror looks exactly like it.

I just got flamed on another auto forum for suggesting it may be glue holding this part together, so now I'm not quite so sure.

Is it a hinge that allows the side-view mirror to swivel?

Oh wow, that response makes me nervous. But I think U.S. models don't have this. My driver's side mirror has never budged. Although it may be that it's be broken to begin with. I don't know.

Motorized folding mirrors is a JDM feature I didn't know about. Heck of an idea.

At this point the best thing to do would be to remove the mirror assembly and see what broke. To do that you've got to remove the interior door trim to unplug the mirror assembly, and get to a couple of screws holding the triangular shaped trim piece in the front corner of the window. From there it's pretty straight forward. Take it inside where it's cool and pull the assembly apart. Start by removing the 2 or 3 bolts on the bottom. I've busted a couple of side view mirrors on other cars over the years and most of the time they are unrepairable. What color?

Grey/Silver. Perhaps you have a spare Grey/Silver side-view mirror.. ? I'll try to get a picture of the car this weekend.

I think at this point, I have nothing to lose by trying to glue the side-view mirror back on - since I'll probably have to replace parts anyway.

Ozzie, I know that the motorized mirrors are JDM, but is that something that can be added on to USDM G50? If it can, I love to have them when I do my President conversion.

Yeah, I learned the hard way that glue didn't work.
