you deleted the pictures too soon! ARRRGH! I just bought a 95 J30 and was trying to figure out how to read the codes. I see that it could have either OBDI or OBDII, but I cant find any OBDII connector and I don't see any diagnostic screw on the side of the ECU. HELP! Do I have to remove the ECU to find the screw?

it refuses to come out! I removed the two lower screws that hold it in place, but it seems like there is still something holding the top. It looks like it should slide right out. Those picture sure would be helpful right about now!!! HELP!

Got it! There was not a third screw, but figured out there was a little bracket in the front of it that was keeping it from sliding out. Removed the two screw on bracket and it came right out. Thanks for you help guys, maybe this will help the next nubie that comes along too.

I think I got into it with him a few times because he didnt like how I aquired my car and I made posts that werent technical and repair related.

But he did know a lot about the car.

Since I have a separate starting problem I have the ECM/ECU out of my 1995 J30. I will take a picture and post it to help others like me that don't understand the kick panel every one talks about is on the sidewall and not directly under/behind the glove box.

On the 1995 there is 1 bolt below the ECM and 1 nut on the firewall. The ECM then rotates forward and down out of a large retaining clip on top. It is a tight fit.

Since I can not seem to load a pic directly to the forum or have the image link work, here is a direct URL to the pic:
