Hey Guys I just finished a rough install of some FX45 Projectors with a movable shield for the High Beam. I hope to redo the case in Fiberglass with a pyrex shield. Let me know what you guys think so far. Any suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated.Day ShotClose Up ShotNight Shots.Low Beam Pattern.High beam Pattern.

I got the projectors with the bulbs from a friend who works at an insurance dismanteller for $80, then I just bought a set of D2S to aftermarket HIDS from Ebay for $20, along with a pair of ballast that were $40. I used a 1/4 inch thick peice of Plywood with 4 4mm X 70mm Bolts from Home Depot that cost me $5. So it cost me about $150.00. I'll do a write up when I redo the projectors in a fibre glass or sheetmetal case.

Hmmmmm..... do I smell a viable alternative to the tsx projector upgrade? Im sure everyone else will agree with me when I say "Write up please!!!"

also, whats a d2s? is that the harness that goes from the projector's wiring to the stock 240 headlight harness?

oh and massive props on a nice upgrade.

they will be far better than the tsx's. mainly because since these are bi-xenon it can be used as a low beam AND a high beam. the tsx's are only single xenon.

btw i think you should get a shroud to cover up those bolts.

D2S is a type of bulb that HID projector uses (just like our cars uses a H4, etc). it has nothing to do with the harness.

I can do a write up for the current set-up some time next week for you guys, since I am going to redo the housing so that bolts are covered and the lens is sheilded from road debris by a peice of tempered glass.

What the hell? It might be the pic but that looks like the worst cut-off I've ever seen. Take a picture of the cutoff, then you'll know if its quality or not. from the looks of it you'll be blinding everyone on the road.

nice, and still utilizing the pop-up feature of the 240

but i would def. paint the red housing around the hid black, just keep everything black so it doesnt look a fish or a 240 with pink eye, just my 2 cents

The last pic has no cut off because it is the high beam, the secound one from the bottom has the prominent cut off. let me get my close up pics of the cut off uploaded later tonight.

I predict that projector retrofits will become a standard mod on 240's with popups. A cheap alternative to silvia front ends with projector headlights.

but its hard because some projectors you would have to cut the headlight bracket in order to mount them.

me personally thinks its weird because theres only one projector on each side. but hey mad props to you for doing a HID projector retrofit.

JOIN the retrofit club of me and redevil lol.

At first I was going to have two lights per side. One TSX projector for my low beam and a modified fog light for my high beam. But when I came across the fx45 projectors with the high beam it just made things a whole lot easier. I am almost done with the pics and write up for the new housing. I hope to have it up late next week. I've just been so busy at the office.

Since the wood you are using will eventually have some issued due to moisture, have you considered using something else besides wood (simply use the wood as a template). Of course, you could always use some bondo to make it look like a better fit and give it some additional shape...

I am redoing them in sheet metal coated with fiber glass resin, and I am painting them black, with a peice of tempered glass to shield it from road debris.

Use something other than just resin as it will crack easily (unless you meant a layer of fiberglass).
