S13 Progress Rear Sway Bar Install

I installed it yesterday. It's fairly easy, and I thought some people might be interested in it especially clearance issue.

Remove 14mm bolts holding stock brackets.

Remove end links. Top is 12mm and you need to hold with 10mm wrench from below.

It was easy to take the stock swaybar out, but you'll have to kinda play with it since it's bent and exhaust is on the way. Side by side comparison with a stock bar. I have s13 vert.

Progress end link bracket is square and it doesn't seat well on control arm since it's not flat.

So, I added one thick washer and it took care of the problem.

Top of control carm has this small cup for the rubber bushing. I also put a washer, so it can fill the gap. Bracket seats on this cup in the front, so you want to do the same thing for the front sway bar.

I had to stick a screw driver between bracket and the bolt to tighten end link cuz wrench or socket wouldn't fit in there.

Finished. Fitment is good and it doesn't interfere with anything.

One more thing. I'm not sure if it's design flaw or not, but the middle hole is slightly off from stock location. For the front bar, middle hole is exactly where stock hole was at.

Well, that's about it. I didn't get a chance to test drive yet. Feel free to ask any questions.

Believe it or not, I've waited for 4 months to get this. Front bar was fairly easy to get, but the rear one was on back order forever. Brad from Never Enough Auto was on top of everything and made sure that I get it. Bushings, brackets, washers, bolts, locking nuts... all the hardwares come with the bar. Grease, decals and instruction are also included. I just added 4 washers to the control arms. I'm very impressed with Progress sway bars. 3 way adjustable, heim end links, soild steel construction, nice bend, 27mm/22mm and good price. I highly recommend them.

Be sure to actually try out hte other two settings on your bar at the track, they make a big difference

Actually, you are the one who said about this Progress sway bars, so I looked into them. Nothing could beat their adjustbility and endlinks. They are solid bars too. I'm really glad that I got them. Thanks for the tip.

yeah ive wanted them for about a year and 1/2 now, right after they first came out i read somewhere about how the endlinks were superior to the ones the whitelines come with and a few other things that really made them no brainers, thats why i recommend them to everybody

Anyways, I've got a question for 94_240sx and for anyone who has the front progress sway bar installed. I am currently having a problem installing mine. Do you have aftermarket tension rods? The bolt that goes through the U-bracket and heim joint is hitting my tension rod because it is too thick. I am running the SPL tension rods. The only solution i can think of is to find a spacer and put it between the control arm and U-bracket to raise the U-bracket higher so that the bolt can clear the tension rod.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Yes, I do have aftermarket Kazama tension rods. They are just a couple of millimeters smaller than SPL. You can turn the U-bracket and make it seat pararell with the tension rod. I'll see if I can find some pics tonight.

Thanks for the tip 94_240sx. I wasnt sure if it was ok to turn the U-Bracket sideways because that would cause the lower heim joint to point in a different direction than the upper heim joint connected to the bar.

I know exactly what you mean, but once you installed, you will see there's a lot of room for heim joints when control arms move up and down. So, don't worry about it. Just make sure to fill a gap with a washer just like above picture. U-bracket is retangle and it'll seat on a cup(?) which is round.

Haha... yes, that's my car. Sorry. I just remember now. I didn't have to turn the bracket. SPL tension rods must have big bulge where those 2 bolt holes are at. But, again, you don't have to worry about heim joints not lining up. Just make sure they don't bind and move freely when control arm moves up and down.
