In my honest opinion, this statement holds true to some degree (less the cryotreating). The stock pistons can be killed, but detonation don't discriminate, so it really doesn't matter what you put in there. Most of you guys' power goals will never reach the limits of the CA18DET's stock rods or pistons, so the only reason I see changing pistons is because your stock bore is no longer within stock specs.
And as for these con rods, don't knock them till you've tried them. Welcome to the world of R&D and sometimes you gotta spend some loot to achieve some of your goals. The only reason I haven't bought them is because I have enough components already and I've spent enough money on engines, computers, injectors, blah, blah, blah over the last 11 years, so it would be cool if one of you CA noobs step-up and test these rods for the sake of the CA community.
If you're not going to step-up, don't speak up! The stock CA rods and pistons are more than up to most of you all's demands. Spend some money on a good engine management system and you'll see what I'm talking about. Name brand pistons don't build power. Name brand rods don't build power. These are just small supporters in a much bigger equation and unless you open the pocket and venture out, this is just general chat!
