I might buy a skyline turbo off my friend; It came from an R32.

Just wondering if anyone here is running this turbo? & if anyone worked on this turbo let me know what you think about it.

Specs, pros, cons, etc.

Thanks

Depends on which of the turbos it is if it is the smaller of the twin then here are the specs: zerothread?id=245301
redtop91 wrote:No problem. The T28 is from the Nissan Skyline GTR R33 Twin Turbo. This is the smaller turbo of the two. It is a genuine Garrett Ball bearing turbo. .42 A/R and .48 on the exhaust side. There is zero shaft play from side to side or in and out. The compressor blades are ceramic. These are much lighter than the metallic bladed fins of standard turbos so the turbo will spool much faster than pretty much anything else out there, that being said the ceramic blades are not as durable as the metallic blades and will break at extreme boost pressures. The FSM for the Nissan Skyline GTR states that the turbo should not be boosted past 1.1 Bar which is exactly 15.95 PSI. This is almost 2 psi more efficient than the stock SR20DEt T25. I personally would not boost this turbo over 15 PSI because engines don't seem to accept eating compressor blades very well. For a bolt on affair on a KA24DE you will need a T25 flange exhaust manifold. SS Autochrome makes one that is pretty cheap. Less than $200 IIRC. Next you will need the inlet pipe from an S14 or S15 SR20DET:

Next you will need either a custom turbo outlet elbow or one from the Skyline R33. That's really about it LOL. Bump

The RB turbos are great turbos period, for the simple fact that they run Ceramic Ball bearings. All you have to do if you plan on running more then 14psi, is change out the ceramic exhaust wheel to a Metal one and your golden.

Also those turbos are water cooled which I recommend running the water lines do to the fact that they have ceramic ball bearings.

It's not a T25 if its a RB20 turbo. I have two of them right now.

Think about it, who in their right mind would put a T25 on a I6 engine.

Actually the Rb20 Turbo is larger then a T25, its like a T3 which has Ceramic ball bearing, and is water and oil cooled and will flow a lot more air then a T25.

A RB25 turbo is very similar and flow about 15% more.

well you can always try to find the stock turbo outlet elbow, and then make your own downpipe.

The elbow came with the turbo, I may slice it up and try that.. Worst case, I fab my own custom from 1/4" steel.. Not that big of a deal.

The bad news is that I damaged the turbine shaft when trying to rotate the center section tonight.

Anyone know if you can buy a new turbine shaft from Garrett? Nissan seems to carry the turbo as a single piece...

Is there anywhere that sells the used turbos from the skylines? I am down in Louisiana, so I don't have the benefits of being in close proximity to a country where they drive around.

I have a RB26 turbo and had to make the elbow for it cus you can find the full elbow on ebay but you have to buy to seeing how its for the RB26 thats a twin turbo. Plus I dont think they are shaped right for use on a KA-T project.
