Here is the remote display behind the instrument cluster lens. I bought a modified remote display with different color led's for each radar/laser band. I also moved the data jack so it exits straight back behind the display. Because our cluster lens is tinted, the diplay is nearly impossible to see when off. I had to backlight with a flashlight to capture these pics. The main unit is mounted up by the rearview mirror. It does not light up when the remote display is connected. I tapped into the power from the map lights and it turns on/off with the ignition. Here is the remote mute button along side the shifter console. I bought this on Ebay.

Nice install. I have my concealed display in front of intrument glass. Any tips on how to get behind glass? Does the top of the dash need to be removed? Any help would be much appreciated.

It's pretty easy. 1) Remove the trim around the ignition, a screw will be revealed.2) Pull back the large panel where the side view mirror controls are. It's held in by clips. Pull it back just enough to reveal another screw.3) Remove the trim ring in front of the cluster lens. Start at the top where it meets the dash. I used a plastic putty knife wedged in the gap to make room for my fingers. You will need to pull down on the trim ring which is held in by 2 clips at the top.4) Remove the remaining screws holding in the entire cluster and pull the cluster and lens out carefully. 5) Unclip the 2 harnesses in the back of the cluster and remove the entire unit.

Undo the clips holding the lens to the cluster and separate them.

I drilled a hole in the top of the cluster shroud right in the center to feed the telephone line from the V1.

Fasten the V1 remote display to the shroud with 2 sided tape. I used this great tape from 3M that is very strong and kind of gummy. Gray in color. I also modified the V1 display by removing the case and bending the jack so it goes straight back. (This is not necessary, but gives a cleaner look)

Put the cluster back in the car without the lens (hook the harnesses back up) and run the V1 wire to the display.

Wipe all you fingerprints from the cluster lens inside and out and put that back on. Be sure the odometer reset button is lined up with the hole in the lens. Test the unit. Put everything back on in the reverse order.

Overall, this is the best mod I've made to the car.

I would recommend getting a shop manual CD. It makes taking your car apart alot easier. If anyone needs a copy, email me.

Good Luck!!
