After the winter i decided to put my KYB AGXs on with my Tein springs. took about 3 hours and was well worth it. With this huge improvment over stock, this made me fall in love with my car all over agin. right now i got them 3F & 6R and they are plently stiff for spirited drives, and normal driving. Im glad i went with this route over coilovers, mainly b/c i drive everyday and sometimes just want to cruise comfortabily. Also with tein spring's rate the kyb agx works really well together, glides smoothly on nice roads, i manage on bumpy crappy NEW YORK roads but its good.

i know this ain't nothing new.....

yesh, he does look like a subie. Just a little bit.

Does anyone know how the Tein's spring rates compare to Eibach prokit's ?

I also have the AGx's but with the Prokit. Been on there for almost 2 years now.

As I get older, my back has started complaing when I drive at 3f/6r on in-streets, but on Highways, it's smooth.

Im not sure about the spring rates, but I have the AGXs' with Sportlines (lower than Prokits). I bought them slightly used already mounted so it only took me like 30mins to swap them in.

I started on a 4/4 and then went 3/4 and now Im at 4/6 and love it...I was on 3/4 because the 4 front was too much on DE-1, but now that I dont travel that road for school so often I stiffened it up and it seemed to smooth out nicely in my area.

I'm soooo begging my self for some sways...sways and braces are next on my list.

prokits are as close to OEM replacement you can get, with minor lowering, and slightly stiffer then stock. if you wanna go easy on your back why not put to 2f 4r, swapping springs wont help unless you go with OEM springs and kybs... Teins are noticably stiffer then prokits FYI.

damn man, what makes it look like a subie?? people also said it looks like a neon srt....

well looking at spring rates when looking at a prokit isnt really going to do any good...just because its a progressive spring. so the factory numbers they give you for spring rates pretty much mean didly squat. i've got kyb gr2 and a prokit on my d/d and its really stiffened things up dramaticly. the shop i work at just installed a set of tanabe's on an is300 and werent nearly as stiff as my prokit turned out.

x2 but, you cant force people into it.

People will eventually figure out on their own.

Especially when they get real wheels and dont want to look like a 4x4 anymore.

I figured it out when I installed coils on my 240. It had only stock suspension til I put on the coils. But my friends all use just springs, and the thing I noticed most was that springs are far more bouncy than coils. Springs are stiff, but still bouncy over certain surfaces. Coils are stiff without the bounciness. Coils FTW.

i agree. i was just going to go with a spring strut combo for my s13, then when i read up on ppl who were selling them. 90 percent of the ppl selling springs and struts were switching to coilovers...and most had less than 10k miles on them. i figured i should just do it right the first time and not spend the extra money on somethin i'd replace the next summer.

if your just gonna get coilovers so you can slam your car and mess with the suspension travel and stuff go for it. not everybody needs coilovers.

Been running AGX's for many years now. First with the Eibach Sportlines (soft, progressive rates, and shortened shock life FTL) for 3 yrs I've been running Suspension Techniques' springs (linear rated=more predictable, and they are much stiffer). They are awesome. I have no reason to switch anything on my car suspension-wise (added Suspension Tech sways last year--woow), if I had some more dough, perhaps I'd swap out the AGX's for Koni Yellow's but they are not as user-friendly as the AGX's anyway (the fronts are adj. on the top but the rear you have to remove the housing )

When it comes to adjustments on the fly, the AGX's can't be-beat. Which is extremely valuable when I'm at autocrosses.

The coilovers vs. spring/strut combo arguement is lame. There are plenty of springs and dampers to choose from now for the 240 (as compared to back in 2000 or so)it's all about choosing the right combination. There's a lot of soft, crummy springs out there that are marketed as high performance. It just takes some research--that's why we have stickies in the wheel/tire forum where you can look up all the spring rates and dampening rates from different companies. Sure, my car isn't 'slammed jdm tyte yo' but it's not 4x4 either. At least I can negotiate speedbumps like most motorists instead of having to drive sideways so i don't scrape my exhaust/undercarriage
