ok, i dont know if im late on this or one out of many that has discovered the following...i swapped my s13 redtop sr20det into my 89 sohc coupe. i used my complete sohc a/c system(lines, bracket, compressor, condensor) on the sr and EVERYTHING LINED UP--------->almost-i just shaved one rib off of a little bigger belt that the stock one. has anyone else experienced this? i was going to eliminate ac until i had the money to to get a complete system of whatever chassis, but my friend came over today and saw me deleting it and he got his hands in it and wah-lah! i discharged it tho so i can retrofit to 134.

If so, doesn't that ruin the integrity of the belt??

Why not just buy a 3-rib belt in the proper size?

Belt part numbers include the size, if you didn't know.

i just cut one of the ribs off the belt-instead of it being a 4rib belt, its now a 3rib.

i have done this little shadetree trick before and it never seems to fail outright, it probably does SHORTEN the life of the belt. but how i look at it is that it's just the belt for the a/c-if it breaks, its no big deal because it's an easy fix and it's not anything that will cause any problems(besides it was going to be non-existent in my car anyway, but then again i live in georgia...)

yea, i will do this if it breaks or I just have one of those days with not much to do, but I had a couple belts lying around the house and just started matching them up along side each other and used the best canidate.

I'm reading that the lines don't fit, and you need brackets to make the SOHC fit?

In your case, everything just bolted on ??

not everything. i got two bolts into the block thru the ka bracket. i got all four bolts in the compressor thru the bracket. i used my existing sohc lines, compressor and bracket.
