About a week ago, I installed some Crower V2. The specs are 264 advertised duration, .375" lift and 114 LSA.. I didn't really know what to think of them on the street. Scenes how my car varies in power output from day to day it seems like, I didn't really get a good gauge on performance increase.

So today, I finally got two dyno runs. The first was at .91kg/cm2 peak boost and the second I'm guestimating was right at 1bar. The dyno operator shut my car off before I could look at my AVC-R display, but I only gave the hallman maybe 3/8" of a turn.

1st run I made 346whp/290ft.lbs-

2nd run I made 353whp/293ft.lbs-

Both runs on pump gas.

Improvement: .86kg/cm2(blue)stock cams vs .91kg/cm2(red)Crower 264s

I like the results.. I'll take a drop in torque any day as long as I still make good whp. I should be able to possibly turn the boost up a little more on pump.

Props on the cams and the sweetass torque curve. I like how the torque stays pretty flat all the way throughout the rpm band.

While there is a drop in peak torque, the torque line is much broader throughout the rpm range.

Yea I was particularly happy about how torque didn't drop nearly as much as it did on stock cams..

How much fuel did you have to add on the top end?

^^^ Likely none, because Enthalpy builds quite a cushion into his tunes.

T04E.. And it was probably sub 1 bar just judging by my mild torque increase..

well the numbers don't lie but how do u feel about em? worth it? or could the money be spent elsewhere? (this is of course assuming you bought em at their normal price)

I am glad I bought them. I just wish I could have gone 272s.. But its too much work for those.. For the bolt-on-ability of these, I say they are worth the $275 I paid for them.

Mind you, I have an inverse view of most KA guys. I'm TRYING to build a Honda..

I'm betting these cams need more boost to show their advantage over the stockers.

Looks like a significant downgrade to me at 1 bar just based on the area under the curve. Losing 10-15whp and tq all the way to 5800 and then a gain of avg maybe 15whp/tq for a 1000rpm. Seems like there should be some cam timing or ignition timing or something you can do to bring the numbers up a bit. Maybe talk to the boys at AMS and see what tuning they did cuz their midrage loss isnt as dramatic.

Plus on stock rods I dont like to rev over 6k...Looks like you'll be goin over 7k to get any real benefit from these.

Thanks for contributing this to us as an independant - it's always informative to compare these numbers with the salesmen.

Cheers,Nate

for that price, i agree. and i do hear ya on the "i wish" part as it sux that the v3's aren't quite as install friendly as the v2's. how come u didn't run higher boost on the dyno? car was PMS'n or something else?

Pump gas limit I suppose. Although Enthalpy tunes his ignition maps very conservatively..

Cory, do you have any significant knock readings at these power levels?

No way to monitor knock..

I didn't push more so I had a good comparison to before... My car did start acting up though. It was boost creeping all the way to the dyno. Luckily it stopped being gay on the dyno and didn't creep at all..

Would you say that with the stock cams you got better spool on the low end? If yes can you give a little idea how good your spool is for each cam? (i.e. 7psi @3200rpm)

although it seems you have a general loss through the powerband, what you can appreciate about those cams is that the hp keeps pulling all the way to redline as opposed to dropping off. youll appreciate that at the track when youre above 5000rpm the whole time. and also, the fore mentioned torque curve.
