ARE YOU EFFIN KIDDING ME? people make money converting harnesses...i do it as a side job since im a full time student. first its the whole 'heres how to swap a rb25 into xx car' and now a wire harness video...jeeez. this makes me sad, really sad actualy...one reason why im slowly seperating my self from this 'scene' no one has any creative flair to them anymore all they want is for some one to spoon feed them and tell them what to do. there is no bright side to this video, it means more work for me when i get hacked up harnesses from some kid who has NO experience in wiring much less any mechanical experience...and i hate repairing hacked harnesses.

I am pretty sure the majority of you guys in the RB forum had to find out some how to swap your engines. And like it really is that difficult. If you actually decided to make your own mounts and live your life on a rock with no resources then I guess you have that right to be snobbish. I own a shop and do swaps and yes it kills me when some kid brings in a half mangled POS and says he does not know what went wrong. But you know what, That is what I get paid for. I recommend that anyone that thinks they might have the ability to do there own swap to do it and if they are intimidated by a certain part then bring it to me to finish. You have to start somewhere. I also say if you can't do it then don't try. Some people are mechanics and some are not. Almost type of swap right up is out there on the internet all you have to do is search. Help people out more on the forums and videos would not be made and sold. Either way this is one of the sponsors that keeps this site running right? I know in the Z32 section we are a bit more helpful and always send the buisness to sponsors when available. DustinZ

Well I have written a walk through so I guess I have a right to ***** :PAll of this information is readily available for free, gratis, mujanin, frizzle, zip, zero, nada, zilch, etc. I dont see any reason why someone would pay for a video showing them exactly what they can learn online in the same amount of time, but hey I dont understand a lot of people in general. Regardless though, if someone is hell bent on doing an RB25 swap and isnt willing to learn a thing or two about mechanics to do so, this video will not help them. If anything, it will add "At 20:45 in the video..." to the problem thread they would already be posting had they not wasted their money on a DVD. In short, just because it is on video does not mean you can learn anything new from it, this same info is laid out in NUMEROUS places already, with step by step instructions you can print out and take to the garage with you

Personally I think it could help people that need some Visuals.I don't think this one video is going to make the RB like the SR. Maybe it will and maybe people will attempt and give DustinZ a half @ssed car to fix. But either way they are a NICO sponsor and I really do appreciate NICO being here. So be easy. Let these guys make there $$ and they will help some people in the process also. Don't want to jinx them but I think that as soon as one person buys it, it'll be on Youtube or some kinda filesharing thing for free anyway.

Anyone who see an instructional video as a bad thing IS not seeing the big picture. Is the RB for the elite only now? Why should we be against a noob wanting to go RB instead of SR or KAT etc? When did we start no helping others? When I first came onboard here no one had any idea about anything. Now we have a large group of skilled people who have done great swap projects. Progression is all about sharing...period.Education and knowledge is never a bad thing. I fail to see where this animosity comes from here. You guys need to get out of the box a bit and see a bigger picture. Just cause you have the RB does not make you special in anyway. This is usually one of the more mature motor forums... WD

If the DVD is good.. there shouldn't be any hacked up harnesses. If the DVD is good.. it should be a great help to people who need it. The alternative is to have to pay someone to do it for them and be out the money and still not have learned anything from it. Let's give Drifting.com a chance to market their product! If the product turns out to be junk, then we'll certainly have more conversation about it. But let's not knock a product until we've tried it.

i agree with carl h...when i was first doing my swap i woudl have loved having this video and the swap video but now i was forced to SEARCH and not be an annoying little kid that wants an RB25 but doesn't know ****. you can't learn anything by just watching a video. when something goes wrong are you going to make a video for how to fix a fubared rb25? probably not...i'm not trying to talk bad about drifting.com i just think its a bit ridiculous that people need a freakin video to do this swap. it's really not that hard. the wiring i sent to jon powell just because i didn't feel like getting into it and ending up with a wacked up harness then spend money to get it fixed.

In the video, they used blue gloves, can I use regular latex gloves. Someone please help me as I seem to have trouble understanding this part of the swap. Also, Found out where to put the key. It goes in the ignition. I'm just kidding. Looks to be helpful for those who can't visualize some of the processes.

So what I find funny is people who saying the video is bad because then we'll have kids who don't know anything about their cars/engines. And yet it is ok for these kids to send out harness to be converted, or have the cars taken to a shop? And on that note, Carl I think I figured out what was wrong with my harness :P, I still might send you a new one just to have a brand new harness that is done correctly the first time, and looks good. I'll let you know.

Oh everyone calm down. When this swap DVD comes out, people that do swaps for a living...will still be in business. When the wiring harness DVD comes out, people that do wires will still be in business. I would only get worried when they come out with a "how-to" video on how to create your very own nuclear bomb. Then I'm gettin the fcuk off the planet.

I find this a little hilarious myself as I was reading the 42 page thread today about everyone keeping the wiring "secretive" and not making it plug and play for anyone. Which to me totally defeats the purpose of forums. However since no one would post the info, here's what you get, a video. No one is going to learn much about their car by doing the wiring anyway, now installing your own main bearings and base timing an engine, you'll learn plenty. I'll do my own wiring, its not really that hard, but I'll probably also buy this video to double check myself so that I don't end up blowing out my ECU. I mean you gotta face facts, some people just are not good at electronic's, or wiring in general, and some would just rather get it over with so that they can move on to other things like making their engine run better and not have to put up with the headache of wiring. But think about this, that thread was over 40 pages I believe and probably takes up 30 megs on this forums web site, where posting the info would have probably taken up 2 or 3 pages and maybe 1 or 2 megabyte. And what ever happened to sharing information? Another thing of the past I guess. I'll post a "Plug and Play" write up on it when I finish mine just to keep the chatter down and save the site some disk space.
