With s13s selling so cheap i began toying with the idea of picking up a coupe project car this summer. I then realized the price of a good set of coilovers and a decent catback system would quickly eclipse the price of the car. So how many of you have spent more on mods that you have your car..or are close to doing so?

Include year and model for specifics..

Well, the price of the engine rebuild kit from AMS alone was like $1700? I only paid $1200 for my S13 hatch...

Plus tires, brakes, stereo system (I'm an audiophile), short shifter, and various other odds and ends...I've spent over 3x the car's price easy.

And now to rebuild the KA and turbo...that'll make over 5x cost of the car, no question...

I have almoat double the price of my car on parts. I always try to find good deals, I have parts at home that arent even on the car yet. But when u have so much fun and love ur car you wont even notice it but its always good to have a backup car or daily driver in that case.

paid 5200 for the car, and probably triple that in mods. this is why you never add up your reciepts

I would rather spend more to mod an older car than buying a new comparable car and spend the next 5 years paying over $500/month Insurance is also cheaper

Seeing as the car was 2K when I bought it damaged, and I had to pay for repairs, tires, clutch (twice) new flywheel, shift knob, steering wheel, boost gauge, blow off valve,

STILL have to buy waterpump, FMIC, turbo timer, boost controller, tires, decent rims, tints, *sigh*

Stock as a Rock baby! For now at least. I've got some parts that I have yet to install like shocks, springs, wheels, etc. but I gotta wait till I get it running first.

i need an option for 20x+

car was $1200

spent: 24000+

it takes a lot to keep my baby running, but its been completely worth it. so most of it has been basic maintenance/engine rebuilds/new dash, windshield, seat, etc. although i have dropped more than 10k into hauling ace. bottomless pit of financial ruin ftw!

I Clicked on almost there on accident. 2k for the SR, 700 for Boost controller and exhaust so with the S13 costing 500 bucks originally, I've more than tripled the original cost of my S13 in mods. These are not cheap cars to modify, just cheap to buy (or used to be).

I put all my purchase on a spreadsheet, and now I am depressed because it could have been a down payment on a house. Oh well, this hobby is expensive.

Judging by karmakaze's list I'd say a ****load would about sum it up. But at least it's been a ****load well spent. Nice work man.
