I need tires for my 2003 Murano. Any suggestions for a good all season QUIET tire? I would like to switch away from the original equipment tires. I am willing to switch to a different profile to get a quieter tire. Anyone have good luck with Avon, Perelli, or Michelin? Thanks in advance for any help, John Jory
If I were buying, I'd buy the 255/60/18 - Same overall diameter, but a little more "meat" on the ground and a little stiff sidewall for better handling - This tire would be my choice:
Don't know if in the US this Pirelli's are the same as ours, but my Mo ride on Goodyear & like them
my dad's 2004 Terrano (European Nissan) rides on 16' Scorpion & I never found them good, they're noisy & not as comfortable compared to my Mo's Good year's

I have a 2003 Murano - stock 235/65-18 GY's With 39,500+ I'm shoping new tires. On another forum, they had alot of recomdations. But, I think I wil go for the Michelin CT's. Same size. I checked Tirerack.com. good price but, I found my local tire stores to jack up the installation price. (Los Angeles). Snowbirds are getting 255-265 size but, gas millage will go down. Good luck to anyone out their reading this... DavidSMCA, USA PS- I have chrome wheels, so an installer who won't scratch would be nice.
I replaced the original GY Eagle LS tires at 60,000 Kms (36,000 miles) with Michelin cross terrains. At 35,000kms (21,600 miles) they are finished. The dealer says they have worn unevenly even though they have been rotated at the required intervals and a wheel alignment indicates it is within specs. The tires sound like a wheel bearing has gone. Based on this I would not recomend them. Has anyone else run into this on their Murano. Mine is an 03. Don
Though they had a little life left in them ( 5-8K more but certainly not one more winter), I decided recently to replace the original GY's on my 04 SE at 61K miles. Based on reviews, price, availability, warranty, etc, I finally decided on factory sized Cooper CS4's. Mounted and balanced with a good road hazard warranty, the CS4's were $590 (after a $40 Cooper rebate).
Though I've only put 3K miles on them, so far so good. Road noise with the GY's wasn't objectionable, but the Coopers are quieter yet and ride just as well. I hope they hold up as well as the GY's did.
I still say if you are rotating your tires regularly, maintaining pressures (tough NOT to do with the TPMS on our Mo's), and not driving like a maniac, there is something wrong with your car if you are getting less than 40K miles out of your tires.
On other vehicles, I've had terrible luck with Michelins when it comes to treadwear. Flat out, they just wear out too fast. I'd never recommend their tires to anyone.

We have an 06 Murano and looking at new tires soon. We'll probably make the same choice as my sister made on her 04. She had a set of Yokohama 520 and she likes them so far. Nice and quiet with a nice ride quality
