I knew what I wanted, so I went in and ordered up 2 Magnaflow 18" truck tips, rolled & angled. Had them remove the muffler and bend some pipes, we went behind the 2 weights to keep the factory balance on it, and it's super clean. From the side, it's just subtle, these long a$$ tips just disappear under the car. From behind it's almost factory looking.

Onto sound. Quiet, but a nice rumble. Sounds great under load (I let a friend drive it so I could hear from outside), there's a bit of resonance in the car, but from the silence of the factory system, that's to be expected. It's not loud by any stretch, but you do here it. When you floor it, you used to just hear the rush of the engine, now it's a nice balance between engine rush and exhaust rumble. Like my boss just said "now it sounds like a V8".

Pics tomorrow, I forgot the camera and it's almost dark anyhow! Sorry, but I'll post up tomorrow for sure!

Paint the lower trim / spoiler, DVD/NAV + head rest monitors and it's finished. Oh, and I gotta make it a bit lower, not sure if I'll cut the TEIN's or order coilovers for it. From then, just maintain it, keep it spotless, show it and drive it 3 or so more years.

Couple quick pics before work. I'll try and get a vid today too. Still not sure if I like hearing my exhaust or not, I'm so used to the quiet! It does sound great going down the road though, and with radio and windows up you don't really hear it.

I wouldn't call it loud at all, but you certainly hear it. From outside, it sounds really really good driving by. I'm gonna take a video today, but it's f#4ing raining right now.

The tips were $50 each, total I paid $175 at Sweeney's Custom Muffler. His kid and he race midgets / sprint cars and wear SIMPSON gear, so he kinda sponsored me lol. Woulda been about $250 otherwise. If I decide to change anything, it would be to replace the two pre-mufflers (before the axle) with some Magnaflow mufflers. But I still gotta see what it feels like on the fwy. It does sound bitchin though. So far, everyone here who's heard it said basically the same thing; it sounds like a V8 now.

Falk, this looks great.. Where did you get those 18" tips from. whats the OD/ID of these tips? I like the way this looks.. I can care less about it being noisy - once a week I can give my ear some excercise..

Very cool look, so what about the power changes if any? Sounds too are appreciated, maybe we'll meet for an Apple Pancake at Dinah's one day so I can hear it in person.

There should be no power gains but the sound is priceless.

There is just somthing about a wound tight V8 breathing.

The od of the tips is 3" and the end is 2.5". You can see they bent and welded it up really well. Thanks for the comments, it's a great sound coming out of the back now, and it looks awesome.

I didn't get a chance to tape it yesterday since I was depressed after lunch. Some a$$hat in a Suburban apparently needed to back into my car. More damage to his than mine though. Scrapped up my recently painted rear bumper, spoiler, fender corner and cracked the pass tail-light. It will be fixed next week though. And I'll try to make a vid today, I kept the camera here so I'll do my best.

Man that sucks. Seems like all the qs are getting hurt recently. I gotta go check mine to see if anything happened to it!!

Kevin, post a sound clip of your Q when you get a chance. BTW, thanks for the info on the id/od.

It probably lowered my first tank mileage because I've been getting on the gas more than usual to enjoy the sound! lol. I'll get a vid and better pics this weekend, I've just been slammed at work and excuses, excuses!

Does he do headers? That's what the VH41DE really needs. Get those damn Buick logs off the side of the heads. 4-2-1 would really let the engine breath.

Rswicki, where are you when we need you?

you guys should talk to mettler in the VH/VK forums. He has made a set of header flanges that would be a great start to making custom headers... With the flanges done the rest is easy!
