My engine light is on with the P0430 code which is bank2 Converter failure. There are 2 pre-converters and then one on thestraight main pipe. Which one is failing to give this code?Could it be an O2 sensor?

Thanks,Shawn

There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) out for that problem, if I'm not mistaken. It involves the pre-cat replacement, and an ECU reprogram. You should be covered under the emissions warranty for this problem for 8/80 federal, and 7/70 cali.

The bank 2 precat is on the radiator side of the motor.

I have a 2000 Infiniti I30t with the same code. Could you please describe what are the possible problems and how to fix them? I saw the thread and didn't understand the reply about the emissions warranty and if it affects me.

I forgot to include that I had my 2 rear oxygen sensors replaced at the dealership on 4/26/07... oxygen and heated oxygen sensor. The light came back on maybe a week or two after replacing them.

I'm a noob so thank you for the understanding!

Emissions equipment is covered for 8 years or 80K miles under a federally mandated warranty. There is an Infiniti Technical Service Bulletin on the problem you seem to have. Take it to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty unless your car is out of the warranty period.

Oh great! I'm no longer under warranty as I have over 140k miles on it. So what are the problems and fixes?

I just checked out this link: http://www.nicoclub.com/Matt/p0430.pdfShould I bring this along and have someone check for the possible causes and fix it?

Thanks!

Your best bet would be to take it to a dealer and let them do the TSB on it, which includes replacing the pre cat and updating the ECU program.

TSB? And will all that work be costly?

Thanks for the replies!

TSB=Technical Service Bulletin

Call and ask them what it would cost.
