Tools required:- 19mm socket- breaker bar- steering wheel remover (optional)- philips screwdriver- flathead screwdriver

*If you have airbags, disconnect the battery and let it sit for 20 minutes.*

The first thing you need to do is loosen the screw on the bottom of the steering wheel. It is holding a clip that secures the horn assembly to the wheel.

Then, Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the horn off. You have to pivot the horn upwards while prying it off. It is only being held in by 4 clips.

Disconnect the wire that leads to the horn, and set the horn assembly aside.

Use a 19mm socket and a breaker bar to remove the bolt holding the steering wheel to the column.

If you can't remove the wheel by force, use a steering wheel remover to get it out.

Use an adjustable wrench to crank the middle bolt until the steering wheel pops off.

Mark the position of the wheel so it won't be crooked when you put it back on.

I usually get pissed and start yanking on it. You still end up slamming yourself with the steering wheel back into your seat.

fixed.

I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my horn, so I thought it would be a good idea to take apart the steering wheel to see if the problem was in there, but it wasnt. And I was bored, so i took photos and wrote what i did.

The contacts seem to be fine, and i connected a wire from the battery to the horns to see if they work (and they did). So, the problem is somewhere in between

I don't know how much room there would be for the wheel to come off, but it would be better if you left the nut on. Then you don't hit yourself in the face with the wheel.

Every steering wheel I've ever removed needed a puller. And also all of the GM ones have one tooth that's bigger so you cant put it on wrong.

Rubber Mallet worked just fine on my steering wheel. 2 hits and it was off. It wasn't even on that hard.
