I have fought a engine missing and stalling for months. It was worse after a heat soak where I went a distance, stopped the engine for a short while, and then when running again , the jerking was worse. On this forum I was told it was the MAP sensor. I put in new pins in the connector as suggested. Did not help. I opened the MAP sensor. It appeared if the copper shield over the electronics board may have been shorting. Not 100% sure of this. Anyway I put electrical tape on the inside of the cover just in case. I also soldered three wires from the inside of the sensor past the connector, in essence hard wiring the connector. For two months now, the car runs great again.

Hey, Greek, thanks for the post! (BTW, it's MAF in this case, not MAP. )

You're the third guy I know of to confirm that the failure was inside the case. So now we have three modes of failure:

1. The connector

2. Internal wiring

3. The sensor itself.

way to go dude. i de-soldered and re-soldered mine at it now works splendedly. dennis suggests having a working one before experimenting, good advice, however mine was fubar as it was. so what did i have to loose? i think that the extreme loading & unloading the malfunctioning maf puts on the entire drivetrain has to be serious sh*t. i could be wrong, it would not be the first time. anyway once you have determined the maf is the culprit open the damn thing up and have a look. what could possibly go wrong?

Captain- I knew you would be happy to see that someone else had done a MAF self-repair.
