Dan and Anand,

Beagles are great, aren't they? I have a 3yr. old red tick beagle named Sadie. She's a hoot! Tons of personality. She's almost a person. If I have time, I'll scan a pic of her harassing a Guinness bottle.

HAHAHA, yeah i love beagles, they really are almost a person, Lolly is a Black & white "snoopy" beagle since she has no brown. She only has brown on the bottom side of her ears and if she gets in the right sunlight, u can see a lil on her face, but most ppl dont believe shes a beagle since she has no brown. here's a puppy pic for the hell of it, the girls love this pic...gotta love those hound dog eyes!

Nancy, you have a Sheltie?!?!! What a pretty pooch!

I used to raise Shelties - We had four or five, and sold probably 15 puppies back in the late 80's...

Sables are the best!!!

about beagles:

I was reading up on them a while back, and it said its not a very good pet for you if you're in and out of the house alot... and that they need alot of attention all the time.. is that true? I donno, I want to get a dog when I move into my apartment next year and I love the beagles... I just dont want it to get all depressed if I leave it at home when I go to work or school or whatever, ya know?

My mom has a Jack Russell terrier. That is by far the coolest dog I've ever been around, and she is really smart. If they didn't shed, she would be the perfect dog. I can't find the pic of the dog on my computer anywhere, so meh...

Well, dogs have no sense of time, so I'm not sure I agree with that. I have two beagles. They do not require any more attention than any other breed. But they are happiest around people or other dogs as they are pack animals. Wonderful with children and very friendly perfect sized pets. The main concern about beagles is since they are scent hounds, they literally follow their noses. We have a fenced in yard because of that trait.

yeah, this is true on beagles, beagles are reknowned to have elevated speration anxiety over some other breeds, but its not something that some love and attention when ure around cant cure, but as bubba said, since they are scent hounds they do LITERALLY follow where there nose takes them, so take that into account, we cant let our dog of the leash ANYWHERE except inside the house. yeah, its that bad...shes well trained but they're instinct just takes over... but i would HIGHLY reccomend the breed!

beagles hunt just about any furry little creature, same classification as bloodhounds...and bassett hounds, and other hunting breeds.

My beagle definitely follows her nose. All the time. She also has a taste for squirrel. She's hell on little furry creatures.

There is a beagle puppy at one of our local shelters that I thought about surprising my wife with, but I don't know if we can handle two dogs very well at our current apartment. I'm sure my dog would like a buddy though...

Agree. Two are just as easy as one. They keep each other company, and they're not big dogs
