It was incorporated into my dream somehow so i didn't wake up right away. So here I am a 23 yr old female all alone in my apartment wondering what the heck is going on. My first reaction out of my confusion was that something broke and people were here to fix it, why at 3am i have no idea. Then i see these lights shining in through my blinds into my second story bedroom window. The banging keeps on going and i hear voices outside. Then i hear coming from the hallway a man yelling through my door "IF YOU DON'T OPEN THE DOOR IN 30 SECONDS WE'RE GOING TO BREAK IT DOWN!!!!" I was like I throw the covers off, leap out of bed and dash to the door saying "is this for me?!?!?!?" because i wasn't even sure that they were at my door. Sure enough when i opened it there were 2 FBI agents, or whatever they were, standing there. I am wide-eyed at the door in my pajamas as one of the men goes "We have a warrant" and i reply with "for what?!??!" he proceeds to step into my apartment saying "I'll show you..." The other guy then says into his radio "it's a white female..." as the guy with the warrant asks me if i live alone. I say "yes" he goes "are you alone now?" I reply "yes" He shows me the warrant and on the second page there is a man's picture and he asks "do you know this man" so i look at the paper i have no clue who he is so i shook my head no as i look at the picture again and at the guys name. So the guy asks me "how long have you lived here for?" and I said "about a month, a little more." After i said that he says "well he must have lived here before you then...this is the address we had for him" I mentioned having some mail from the people who previously lived there that i just took out of the mail box that day...so the guy follows me into my kitchen and i hand him the mail. He looks at the other guy and says "yep his mail is still coming here" I look over and there is another guy walking out of my room or the bathroom, wherever he was searching. So now I have 3 strange FBI men standing in my living room at 3 in the morning, I can only imagine what my neighbors think!! And when i went to work this morning I looked at my front door and saw all these marks where they were banging on it with their huge flashlights!!! Yeah that was not how i wanted to start off my Friday....
Wow, that was scary. Glad it worked out ok.
I had an interesting break in story. Many years ago, not long after my wife and I bought our house, (pre-kids, pre-dogs)we were asleep in the master bedroom with our noisy room a/c on full blast, when a buddy of mine enroute to his parents house ran out of gas a bout a mile from our house around 3 am.
He rang the doorbell several times, and we slept thru it. He then broke into our garage, got out a ladder, and used it to climb into one of our 2nd floor guest room windows that was open . After walking downstairs to the bar and helping himself a beer, he came back upstairs, turned on the hall lights, and politely knocked on our bedroom door. My wife poked me hard and whispered "it's a burglar". As I woke, I looked at the door, noticing the lights were on from underneath the bottom of the door, when suddenly through the door came a loud ,beer-fueled window rattling belch. I then said, "What burglar turns on the lights and knocks? When I opened the bedroom door there was my buddy grinning from ear to ear, (proud of his accomplishment), handing me a beer.
Needless to say, we've since improved the security, I now have a lock on the beer fridge (ahem).
