I did a search and found nothing,so I figured it out for myself. I hope it saves some broke folks a few dollars.

tools drill,with small bitflathead(small)strong handspliers(optional)

parts to installkeyring or wire, maybe a piece of solid wire

first remove e-brake cover

second use flathead to bend tabs that hold spring in place(optional, remove spring with pliers)

third reinstall e-brake cover

fourth use drill/bit to drill a SMALL hole in the thumb knob, carefull not too high and not too low

fifth install keyring or whatever thru knob

last put up tools,go for a drive and test.

good luck

I was going to do the same thing but instead glue a quarter on the tip of the button

I thought about using a screw or something straight in but thought this would be a bit easier to use, I have not used anyother kind before. But from my initial use it is great and locking the brake is cake. I have not got to umm "use it yet" but will and you know nico is the first to know my findings. It is funny how you look at something and its 5 dollars and you say I'll wait, then when you go to get that part it has jumped up to 20 or so dollars. I mean the thing you can buy is only a little piece of metal for 20$ now I have it free

it keeps the button from locking the e-brake handle into position so you can lift it and drop it quickly to initiate or control drift.

Why don't you just take the spring out??

if you just take the spring out, it doesnt lock and the brake lever wont stay up when you park. this mod allows you to decide when it functions as a parking brake and when it functions as something else.

turbo timer doesnt like that. It'd probably be easier to do this one mod then each time you drift to have to take the spring out.

nice one 4N

if you dont get what this doesits simple a free mod that as d!ck said allows you to retain function of the e-brake, I tried to not have anything hanging off but I could not get the button out without a knife or flathead. the ring or whatever is to lock the ebrake, just like the fancy one out and up.

lol..i feel stupid..i tried to do this mod earlier..didnt know what to do,

fubared my ebrake.a bit too much strength went in, broke the piece of metal bar that locks the ebrake in place.tore that sucker apart..now i need a new ebrake assembly.lol @ me.

i have to "manually" reach down and put the pin on the ebrake teeth so i can get the ebrake to stay..

hit the junk yard or tack weld it back together.

why did it break exactly? were you trying to unscrew the knob? I tried that at first, to replace it with something with contour. No luck so I drilled that ***** and as 4N said it I gave it the old P/A.

It works nice, since I am used to having to hold down the button to pull up and let down the handle, pulling the ring out with my thumb is real easy.

LOL its handy while drifting so u dont have to hold down the button while put the ebrake back down. So all u have to do is lift the ebrake up and let it go cuz w/ the button there's a chance of it locking when pushing it back down which is not good.

For me I'd jus use tape! Gluing the quarter sounds good too.

The craziest mod i saw was on one of the D1 cars having 2 ebrakes one that locks which is closer to the passenger side which im assuming is the stock one and one that doesn't which is angled towards the driver. It looked pretty cool.

works good just DONT make the mistake of pulling ring when you drop it, I think I'll come up with something to improve. The store bought one goes around the button, locking it into down position.

the button stays pushed in, so the ebrake wont lock.

to lock it, pull the ebrake, pull the button out and it locks. done.

the ring stops the button from going in all the way, and at the same time is used to lock the ebrake in the up position(for parking)

Ok, I get it. The e-brake button doesn't pop out and lock the e-brake in place because you took the spring out. So you use the ring to pull the button out and lock it in place.
