I just got my car in August, and the heater doesn't work. I had to read the manual to learn that ECON controls the heating but still....

I got into an accident an the hose got bent. I had it cut and adjusted because the coolant wasn't flowing properly. While in the shop, the car started to warm up, but as soon as I got back on the road (in icy Chicago), I had to use a blanket because all I could feel was cold air!

The mechanic said I might have to replace the thermostat because the thermometer does not rise past the half mark, so that car can't warm up properly. I have it at 85F all the time but the air that comes out of the vent is still freezing cold. (Oh and ECON only works for the feet apparently)

Any suggestions?

Q thermostats fail open and don't let the coolant warm up............common condition in winter.

At least replacing a >3 year old oem thermostat is the first thing you do on the road to a fix.

You MUST MUST MUST use on oem thermostat as aftermarkets don't usually have the jiggle valve and never seem tp function perfectly.

Is this what you mean by "jiggle valve"?
