tools needed wire connectors would be cool, but i didnt have any. also wire stippers would be good to use as well, but if your careful with the scissors, you'll do fine. just make sure you have enough copper to show when you strip the wires. if you cut any other wire, your car will blow up jk when your finished with that, do the otherside the same way. Put everything back together and try them out. with the parking lights off, the sidemarker and turnsignal should blink together. with the parking lights/ headlights on, they should blink alternativly, same goes with emergency lights. you can do the rear lights too, just do it the same way, my cousin did his like that. this can also be done with the usdm sidemarkers and turnsignals too. now you can be jdm-tyte!

this is what they should look like at night

props to Ryota (kamakazestorm420) for showing me how to do it Modified by adrians_s13 at 8:06 PM 10/3/2006

one question for clarification: the sidemarkers will retain their regular function in which they are lit when you turn on your parking lights/headlights and they flash now whether the other lights are on or off?

well, both will flash regardless. its just that with the parking lights lit, they will alternate instead of flash at the same time.here, i took this video when i got home from class today. its with the parking lights on, then with the parking lights off.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7R-urODUts

have you re-wired the rear side markers? the rear seems like it will be harder to do. i don't think i want to re-wire the rear anyway. it might look like a semitruck!

thanks a lot for the video....that really helps! I'm not sure if you had the description of what the wiring does...but if you did i that's my fault for not reading it.

I will do the wiring hopefully by this weekend. What gauge wiring did you use? I hope it works for single bulb front(usdm) turn signals.

if u wnated to hook up ur rears u could splice it into the tail lights instead of running it through to the headlights. but im sure everone knew that.

Hey nice write up - and cool results. For clarification - will this work with S14's just fine? Edit: I just noticed it said "how to wire up JDM sidemarkers". I'm confused, is this just a general wiring trick? Or can this only be done with S13 JDM Sidemarkers. I really like that effect and want it done on my S14 lights!

umm.. i dunno sht about s14's... umm, you can try... what's the worst that can happen?

i dont think so... some cars (i.e. eurocars and jdm cars) have sidemarkers for safety reasons, so that others can see you signal into a lane from the side.

Great writeup!

I remember there used to be writeup on here on how to do that with the stock side markers, but it's gone now.

I just finsihed the wiring. I hope my splice holds up. If it comes off...hopefully it doesn't...I'll use heatshrink tubing.

I like this modification because it makes changing lanes a lot safer for those who switch lanes fast. (Not me)

Can someone confirm if this will work with an S14? I'd like to do this mod, but don't want to start snipping wires like a moron.

I just started doing this, but then it started raining..

What I did was get 18 gauge electrical wire for cars, and a set of wire connectors ($2.98 + tax) assorted, The red ones are 1 on 1 wire, the yellow are for 2 wires into 2 wires..

I already crimped the electical wire to the single connector (you will need 4 total, plus the 2 for the 2 wires to complete this)

And, I will post pictures later :-)

AWESOME

I did it with wire connectors, botched up the first time, put black into red instead of red into black, but I got it working again, I will do my right side now with pictures on how to do a clean install without any electric tape..

Only: needle nose, wire connectors with part numbers, and wire :-)

Many thanks for this Tutorial :-)
