RB25 Short Shifter

I know this topic was covered before with quite a few replies. But that was back in 2005, and now I want to know if anyone is using the Nismo Solid Shifter or any other kind of short shifter. If so, what site would you recommend me going to? Btw it's for a 92 240sx with an rb25det swap.

RB motoring sells them... I personally wouldnt run one, more prone to ****ing syncro's...the standard 25 throw isnt bad.

I just picked up a C's short shifter for the RB25 a few months back and I'll be putting my motor back together at the end of the month. I'll post up my impressions once the car is back on the road.

when did you order this?? i was trying to order one way back when (about a year ago). they said they were on backorder... so after a few weeks they just refunded my money. i REALLY want a C's shifter. i think ill email them.

Same happened to me, but I emailed them back a few months later and they said they had them in stock, so I ordered one. I must say the C's shifter is definitely worth the money. Gets rid of the stock shifter slop and most definitely shortens the throw. I love how it feels like it clicks into all the gears too...

grab a cheap KA short shifter off Ebay , I've heard those work. I've got one laying around I dropped in and felt like it shifted smooth with car not running. I didn't have all the little pieces to hold it in so yanked it back out. but from what I've heard just swap the bottom bushing from the stock shifter onto the ka shifter and you're good to go.

EDIT: i would just like to add that i have wanted one of these since i saw a prelude in a magazine with one. it was the shortest shifter ive ever seen, and i wanted one. keep in mind this was probably 5 years ago. before i even had a car to mod. im not looking for the shortest shifter in the world anymore. but to me, for some strange reason. the C's shifter is the holy grail of shifters.

call me crazy, but its just one of those things. oh, and i also emailed them about a set of craft square mirrors for my S14a. i wanna be a JDM parts whore.

RB20? My thow of shift was around 3-4 inches at most and felt stiff and short for stock on the RB25DE transmission i had even, and the RB25DET's are the same.

I ordered a bunch of things last week, one of them being the C's short shifter. How long did it take you to get your stuff, and were they close to their delivery date?

Well, I would never order anything from Nengun if I had an absolute deadline because shipping stuff from the other side of the world always seems to take longer than folks expect it to. My order arrived at my house within 3-4 days of the predicted delivery date. I would definitely order from these guys again because they have the best prices on true JDM items and they are fairly reputable. Great communication too. I think Darius just dropped like $3k for his engine build on parts from Nengun.

BTW, stop spending so much friggin' money on that s13!!!

Does anybody have numbers on the % reduction in throw for the C's shifter? I know it is the only one for the 25 that significantly decreases throw, but by how much? It will be on my Phase 3 list of mods, but that won't happen until winter of 2007.

I've ordered from nengun a couple of times and my main orders came in 3 weeks or so and the rest of the stuff they didn't have in stock I got about two weeks later. Once it hits the US, it is to Iowa in three days. I would recommend them as a trusted store/shop with reasonable pricing.

B&M short shifter all the way. It is more work then the Nismo/C's but well worth it

yup, direct bolt-on. since it is infact made for an R33 GTS-T

Hey kouki-gymkhana, did you get your SS into your beast yet? Lucky7, did you get your hands on the C's SS yet? Looking to hear from you guys and anyone that has experience with SS for the Rb25!

Yeah I did get it swapped in while I was putting my motor back together. I was only able to drive the car about 1 mile and shift the transmission maybe 20 times before I realized that I was only running on 5 cylinders (see my headgasket saga thread for an explanation). Anyways, despite only driving it for a short time, it felt sweet! Very direct and firm with minimal increase if any in effort. It was well worth the price I paid for it (about the same as the B&M, NOT the $300+ you see on ebay) and the install took about 20 mins, 10 of which was spent trying to coax the new rubber boot they give you over the new shifter. If you have the funds, it's well worth it.

i picked up a tomei a few months back on ebay. i know they don't make it anymore so i spent money i didn't have and got cause that was the only one i seen of them. does anyone know anything on these.

I also have the tomei. I bought it because it was in the container with my engine, very smooth shifts and similar to the 350z in terms of throw I love it.

Time to shop for a short shifter now, gonna go for the C's shifter. Does anyone who has this shifter have any issue with fitment on the rb25 transmission on a S13 Chasis? How's the ease of installation? Does anyone know what percentage it will decrease the throw by? also, Nengun.com seems to have none in stock...any other reputable places people recommend me to? Thanks and sorry for all these questions.

I'm using a Nismo solid shifter.

Personally I love it.

It reduces the throw of the shift just enough (even though it's not called a "short" shifter, it is 10-15% shorter than stock).

It also goes into gear very firmly.

Just a great overall feel.

I would definitely recommend it.

I dont know of anyone else that sells it. You can just wait till they get some more in stock (cant take that long). It takes about a month to get anyhting from nengun.com anyway. I havent ever seen a claimed % reduction of the throw, but I can tell you its pretty short and solid.

You can also check eBay, just be sure you're buying from a reputable seller who sells REAL product.

If it's selling for any less than $125, it ain't real.

curious as to why on the nengun page the C's shifter is different between r34 and r33s with rb25det. i've seen both transmissions first hand, no difference in the shifter from what i can tell.

anyone know?
