Alright. I am starting a FREE NICO meet and mountian drive day. It will cover 120miles of twisting mountain and back country roads. It covers 2 mountains and 6 touge style mountain roads. The best part....IT'S FREE!! It'll cost you only the time and gas to come join us.

Date: Saturday October 28. Weather forcast calls for almost no chance of precipitation, sunny, Hi: 57, Low: 39

Location: Coolidge Park, North Chattanooga.

Directions to Coolidge Park: Coming from I75 North or South (Knoxville/Ga): Take I75 to the 75/24 split and take I24 West (You only have one option for direction) At the 24/27 split take I27 North through Downtown. Take the Manufacturers Blvd exit on Olgiati Bridge (over TN river) and take a right at Manufacturers Blvd. Take a right at Cherokee Blvd/Frazier Ave (first light) Take a right Tremont St. and it'll be the parkinglot at the bottom of the hill on the right across from the Chattanooga Theatre.

Coming from I24 south/east (Al/Nashville): Take I24 to the 24/27 split and take the I27 North, through Downtown. Take the Manufactureres Blvd exit on Olgiati Bridge (over TN river) and take a right at Manufactureres Blvd. Take a right at Cherokee Blvd/Frazier Ave (first light) Take a right Tremont St. and it'll be the parkinglot at the bottom of the hill on the right across from the Chattanooga Theatre.

Time: Meet at 3pm and drive at 6-7pm. The earlier the better to beat the sunset. If we stay on schedule the regular part of the drive will end at ~8:30pm The extended part up Lookout will end ~9:30

So all Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta, and Birmingham and surrounding area or farther members that want to take a mountain cruise with some breathtaking visuals THEN SPEAK UP!!

Here are some pics....

Look good, and fun? Then come drive it!!

I dry ran the route I had planned and it turns out it's a 120 mile drive that took around 2 1/2 hours to complete. It covers 6 touge style mountain roads and some nice secluded winding country roads in between.

So the plan is whatever Saturday in October we agree on (21st or 28th) we will meet around 3-4ish and start the drive at around 6-7pm. We'll run a slightly modified route the next morning at sunrise for those who want to stay (indescribably beautiful)

If you want to come you need to speak up. It won't happen lest I know people will come.

I appreciate your letting me know about this, and I might can make it, but I don't know. My wife and I are expecting our first child so things are up in the air, but please let me know if and when this happens.

OK. I edited, I want this to happen on Saturday either October 21 or 28.

So if you want to come post your vote on which day we have it. Remember leaves start to change colors around the 15th and this is supposed to be cold winter.

rsmithdrift, Thanks for the e-mail....

My finances need to be focused on a few bills currently, but I would really like to go. I will keep you posted if things change.

babowc,

According to yahoo its about 2h up which its not a bad drive at all, considering this is from my house which is 15m south of the airport. If I do go I would like to meet up (all from ATL) and caravan up!

If funds (and the wife and depending if i could meet ya'll while ya roll out (I get off at 7 on saturdays)) allow I'll be down for it. I work at NTB on Rossville Boulevard and every one could get new tires for the trip that morning or at least have everything checked out so nothing goes wrong at least with the tires. I'll let ya know if i can go.

Hey, I would love to go. I wont be able to drive too fast around the corners unless I get some dif wheels, mine are out to far that they scrape the fenders when I turn too quick... But i might go for the scenery and to hang out! Maybe someone can bring a grill and some food too. The 28th would prob be better for me cuz the 22nd is my bf's bday so we'll prob be celebrating on the 21st as well.

Keep me updated!

The date is going to be the 28th. I'll need it to be the 28th to recover from vacation expenses and more people have said they need it to be the 28th and also there's a Nashville meet on the 21st, so yeah, it's the 28th.

Official Date: Saturday Oct. 28 2006.

Meet Point. Coolidge Park, North Chattanooga.

Time: Meet at 3-4pm drive at 6-7pm. Encore drive optional the next morning at 6-7am.

I'm definitely down....I just did a run through the dragon last saturday...and although my sr sits in the previously totalled black kouki for now...the coilovers are on the new ride...and let's just say it handles like it should...I might be 5spd and boosting by then...if I can sell some stuff really quick but I don't see it happening.

Congradulations man!

BTW, the meet part is going to be in the lot across the street from the Chattanooga Theatre for those attending. Getting close..... oh, and I added two mountain roads to the drive.......Lookout mtn is now included, drive is now 100 miles in length.........and........the leaves are changing colors now. So we need to stop for pics at the top of Signal.

Alright guys, print this if you are planning on coming to the trip. Detailed directions of the route for the drive......

This is THE ROUTE

Leaving Coolidge park at 6:30pm turn left onto Frazier Ave, this turns into Cherokee Blvd and then into Dayton Blvd. Take a left on Signal Mtn Blvd Hwy 127 and head up Signal Mtn, The S curves are a blast but DO NOT SPEED after the infamous "Space Ship Turn" You'll know it by the Space ship house visible on the left as you exit the first hairpin. Cops patrol the Town of Signal Mtn Heavily beyond this point.

We will then go to Signal Point to take pictures. To get to Signal Pt take the first Left at the top of Signal Mtn ((Just before the first Light)this is also Signal Mtn Blvd) and follow the signs to Signal Pt. Then do the opposite to get back to hwy 127 and take a right and continue through the town of Signal Mtn. (DO NOT SPEED IN THE TOWN, THEY WILL PULL YOU OVER IF THEY EVEN SUSPECT YOU OF SPEEDING IN THE TOWN)Take a right at Anderson PikeTake a right at E Brow Rd we'll circle back and and if we have a small enough group we'll stop at the overlook to take more pics. Take a right onto W Rd down the mountain, be careful in the hairpins, first one to the turn has right of way and YES YOU HAVE TO STOP if there's oncoming traffic (you'll understand why) Take the first right at the roundabout onto Mountian Creek RdTake a Right at Hwy 127 and go ~ 1/2 mile

THERE IS A BP STATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF MTN Creek Rd AND 127. THIS IS THE MEETING POINT FOR LATE ARRIVALS!!!! Look for a group of sports cars lead by my grey gunmettal S13 Fastback. Time will be ~ 7:15 - 7:45 if we stay on schedule. And no, we won't stop at the BP. You'll have to be waiting their and catch the tail of the line.

Take a Left at Suck Creek Rd and this will take us up and down Suck Creek Mtn (the highlight of the drive)Take a right at 283 Take a right at Hwy 127 up the backside of Signal MtnTake a left onto Corral Rd (try not to speed on this road)Take a left onto Sawyer Pike (This turns into Roberts Mill Rd (THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS ROAD ON THE DRIVE))Take a right at Dayton Pike

We will stop at the Raceway station to get gas (least expensive in town)

This is where the regular drive ends approximate distance of 70 miles and 2 hours. Time at this point should be 8:15 to 8:45 assuming we are staying on schedule.

If your heading home from here, simply get on I27 to where you need to go.

THE EXTENDED DRIVE UP LOOKOUT MTN

bear left onto hwy 153 (you won't notice you've done it)Take the exit for Hixon Pike South toward Downtown. (watch for police radar in/after S curves, don't speed)Take a right at Frazier Ave (wave as we pass coolidge park lol)Take a left at Manufactureres BlvdGet on I27 South Toward downtown (take s curves at 90-100mph :D lol j/k)Get in middle lane to take I24 east IMMIDIATELY take the Broad St Lookout Mtn exit. (you'll actually be on williams)Take a right at 25th st.Take a left at Broad St.Follow the main road onto Cummings highway (trust me you won't realise you've done it)Take a left at Old Wauhatchie PikeTake a Right at Lookout Mtn Scenic Hwy Follow signs to Rock City. Stay on Red Ridinghood Trail instead of turning into Rock City (this turns into Ochs Hwy)Take a left at St Elmo Ave/Tennessee AveBear right at Cummings Hwy/Broad st.

Take Broad to I24 (this ends the extended trip) Approximate time 9:45-10:30pm, Total distance of 98 miles. At this point your on the otherside of downtown from the start point (Coolidge Park)

It's very important that you stay with the group as it is very VERY easy to get lost if you don't. Find a buddy to stay with and REMEMBER OUR CARS!

Click on the name of my car in my sig to see what it looks like.

Here is Chattanooga, I advise you click the link and follow the route by map ahead of time so you atleast somewhat have your bearings during the drive. Satellite image is available for ~75% of the route.http://maps.google.com/maps?so...ab=wl

One last thing, THESE ARE OPEN PUBLIC ROADS, IT'll BE SATURDAY NIGHT SO EXPECT TO PASS ATLEAST A FEW COPS! DON'T BE STUPID, REMEMBER YOU DON'T KNOW THESE ROADS THAT WELL AND CORNERS DO COME UP ON YOU IF YOU'RE NOT EXPECTING THEM, THAT SAID.........DRIVE CAREFULLY AND WITHIN YOUR LIMITS. Don't end up like the Ford Explorer that rolled 7 times on I27 I saw while test runing the route tonight....

And don't forget to have fun and enjoy the scenery and roads!! :D

Sorry man...my buddy threw away my contacts on Friday so I had to go get an eye exam w/ out insurance 85 bucks...and then order more contacts...which was like 60 bucks...so yeah...that hurt my wallet a little and I couldn't make it. I'll definitely try to hit up the next one if you have one or I'll just msg you sometime if I'm down that way. I usually just go to the Dragon though...I went the other nite ...it was badass...no one was up there at all.
