The following is something that I posted on a different forum a few years back. I'm only posting it here to spread some love. I searched on here and I couldn't find anything on the subject. Don't ream me for it if it's already on here. Here it goes:

OK. Here it is. Please note that this is for 1989-90 USDM 240sx. It might work for 1991-94 USDM 240sx providing that the wires are the same colors which I think they are. Here's what you need to locate:

JDM temp motor JDM sun sensor and sun sensor plug JDM Ambient air temp sensor and air temp sensor plug JDM Digital climate control unit w UNCUT harness-emphasis on UNCUT JDM Blower motor speed sensor/plug not needed but get it anyway JDM thermo sensor and thermo sensor plug-you might not need this but get it as a back up. I didn't have this and it works just fine.

First is the obvious. Get your worthless & ugly analog out of you car and piss on it. JK. Disconnect your battery too so you don't fry anything. DUH. Take out your USDM blower motor sensor (hang on to it just in case you need to swap back to analog) and put the JDM one in. This is located just underneath your glove box. Hook the USDM harness up to it. Then plug the two large white USDM harnesses up to the corresponding harnesses from the JDM Digital harness.

On the JDM harness, there is a 6 or 7 wire harness. the red wire from that harness has to be connected to the red/black wire from the USDM radio harness. That is your BAT+.

The green/white wire must be spliced into the blue/orange wire on the USDM harness. That is your IGN+.

Then from the USDM harness, the red/yellow wire has to be gounded to the chasis. I used the black wire from my radio which is grounded just behind my radio. Yours might be the same. NOTE: If you wanna keep your analog unit, just in case, attach a male spade connector to the red/yellow wire. That way, when you want to plug the analog back in, just attch a female connector to the wire that you grounded and hook them up.

The blue/red wire from the 6 or 7 wire harness has to be spliced into the blue/red USDM blower motor wire.

Next, UNPLUG the factory USDM fan relay which is taped to the brown harness just to your heat box. Look underneath your drivers side dash and to the right and you'll see it. NOTE: If your JDM harness has no sensor then leave this in place.

Next, you wanna run your sun sensor up behind underneath the dash on the passenger side up through the vent by the windshield. I took my vent off, by popping it out with a flat head screw driver, and took a cigarette lighter and burned where I wanted the sensor to be. Once it got hot, I took a knife and stuck it through where I had melted the plastic and just turned the knife in clock-wise motion until the hole was big enough for the sun sensor to go through.

I have absolutely no idea where the ambient air temp sensor is suppose to be mounted or what wires and where the wires are located to hook it up to. If anyone else knows then feel free to reply.

Next if you want to be able to adjust the temp then you need to install the JDM temp motor. First you need to do the near impossible and take off both black boxes behind your dash. Follow that stupid plastic and metal cord back until you see where it goes. That's where the JDM motor has to be installed. The JDM mounting brackets are different so you can either make a new bracket or bend the JDM one back until it lines up with the mounting holes. I chose not to do this because I didn't feel like taking my dash off to get the proper space that I needed. I was already frustrated enough. My misery is your benefit. The harness for this motor is located on the JDM Digital harness. Plug it up after you mount the JDM motor.

After that, put everything back on, plug up your JDM digital unit and put it back in. You might wanna test it first before you do any of this but if you followed directions like we were ALL taught in grammer school then you should be ok.

Next plug up your battery and you're good to go. I swapped out my light bulbs in my unit for blue LED's and it looks bangin'! Use your own damn colors and don't copy me. I did it first here in the states. If you wanna do that swap there is a how to posted on: http://www.nissansilvia.com. Do a search for: BLUE LIGHTS FOR DIGITAL CLIMATE CONTROL.

I hope this helps out a lot of frustrated people out there. I had almost no help with this so consider yourself lucky. Remember that this is for 1989-90 USDM 240sx. I have no clue if it's the same for 1991-94 USDM 240sx. Try it out and see. Life is about trial and error. (cough) I wouldn't know anything about that!

I just found three rightups on this topic. They're pretty precise, if you combine them together. Yours actually has a few details other guys failed to mention. Thanks for the info, man!

This guy is using info from the earlier two, so he has both links in his first post. Enjoy. One of them is quite long.zerothread?id=160285

I originally posted on http://www.silviansw.com (aussie website) and another one that slips my mind at this time. I posted the one on silviansw.com back in febuary of this year I think, right before I went to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO for chemical school and it was under the username: s13performance. The other was a couple of years ago right before I went to Iraq. That PIC I posted was emailed to me last week. I don't know where the guy got it from. That PIC is not mine but this article most definately is. I just got back from being in chemical school a few weeks ago so I've been out of the loop for awhile. Sorry if somebody already has posted it somewhere. I'll take PIC's tommorrow night of my climate control with the blue LED's in so everyone can see them. It's looks pretty good even after all the years.

I just checked JDMBLOG.COM and yeah that's me. He emailed me requesting permission to post it as long as he gave me credit. Yes my name is Tony but I wish he would've used a screenname. Oh well. The guy was selling everything for the swap on ebay and I emailed him about the installation and told him to use my post in his auctions. I'm glad to see that he is. Thanks for pointing that out "sneaky."

I did the best I could with the PIC's. My flash on my digital camera won't turn off. Trust me, it looks WAY better in person. If you do this install with your favorite color LED's you will not be disappointed!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Don't do it. It's easy as hell to install. It's literally two wires to cut and switch. Color match the bulbs for your car's exterior and you're done. Looks so damn sexy. Check out this other thread I posted:zer...95304

Look for it on jdmblogs.com soon. I already gave him permission to use it.

You can fit anything in there. Depends on how much custom fabrication work you wanna invest in it. Mine fits fine without a sleeve. There's a sh*tload of wires behind it, but if noone can see it- who cares? Right? I still have that spare cubby left. Maybe a CD changer one day?

Just hook your Ipod up to it. My kenwood deck controls m Ipod via an adapter that plugs into the changer connection on the deck. CD's are dead homie. Invest in an ipod and a few accessories and you'll never have to burn another CD again!

The guy that did the write up for the led conversion on nissansilvia.com took it down and reposted it here:

I did not mean to offend you at all. Your rightup is great! What stops me from doing the actual thing myself is not having a rightup with a "step by step" instructions, fo r a noob like myself. For example: "Next thing to replace is blower motor. What is blower motor( SMALL picture to follow) Location, amount of screws, if there's any modifications to follow(again picture of that after the installation) Wiring, colorcoding - stuff like that. Oversized pics in your thread help as much - as they're actually throw you off. No offence , man. I actually payed more money to get every component together, than I should've. And when it came to actual installation - I looked at instructions all three of you provide, I showed those to some buddies of mine, who are actually into electronics- and we all decided that it aint enough. I even posted a thread inviting smbdy who's done it and paying them for work, to just have that thing in my car- but had zero feedback. I'm not blaming uou for not being accurate or anything, it's just if I were to do it, I'd do it differently that's all.
