Hey guys! I am having a hard time unbolting my 240sx's Lower driver side engine mount bolt. Any suggestions on how to unbolt it? It seems to be really tight and stuck.

thanks

I think none of you has done this installation. Note: the bolt is located where space is very limited. There are so many parts around it, making it very difficult to unbolt with pretty much anything except an small rachet.

Have you tried using any wd 40 or luiquid wrench??? Soak the hell out of it and tap the bolt to help it seep in and get the 3/8 rachet and a hammer and bang away.

Or if the bolt is stuck you can get a bolt splitter auto zone or your prospective auto parts store should have them.

Ya but you're forced to smell it so you have to get used to it.

14mm wrench doubled with a 19mm wrench. a lot of power steering bs is in the way, so i know what u mean. try going from the top as well. u can either undo the nut on the bottom or the top. once the engine is out, ull have plenty of space to work.

Use your foot and push down on the ratchet, while holding the framerail for leverage. Place an extra jack stand in the area if your afraid. You can remove the front tire if you need more room. Also the way the nut is position will make PB diffcult to get into the threads, so hammer it immediately after spraying.

Having a long breaker will make it easier.

Hell, I did it with an end wrench.

I would get a ratchet, small extension, 14mm socket, breaker bar + hammer... that should get it.

If your talking about the bolt that holds the motor to the mount then the good old two open end wrench trick works good. If your talking about the bolt that holds the actual mount to the crossmember then use a socket with a u-joint and breaker bar. didnt know for sure which one you were refering to.

I got my old motor mounts out fine. But the bolt in question was a ***** to get back in. I had to use an open end and turn 1/8 turn at a time FOREVER to get it tightened down.

Yo man, get up to like advance auto or anywhere and get yourself a good breaker bar for like $10 you can find them anywhere and they can be gotten for cheap.Trust me, with the random rust and how long alot of those bolts have been in the 240s you arent buying something you are INVESTING in something you are going to use ALOT get a LONG one so you get more leverage, your going to need it.

Also if you still cant get it with that, then go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a pipe that can fit around the breaker bar and give you more leverage.

We once put a 4' pipe on a breaker bar and eventually busted the breaker bar, but it was from Sears, so they replaced it no questions (so, good investment)

How do you "double" a wrench?

easy. with the boxed end of the wrench u want to use (in this case a 14mm), fit the boxed end onto the bolt, and with the open end of the first wrench, you insert one of the forks into the boxed end of the second wrench. doing that gives you more leverage (therefore more torque) to unbolt the suckers.

Or in otherwords it works like a breakerbar + pipe combo only it looks more sophisticated

Working under the car when it is only ~2ft off the ground doesnt give much room to use a large breaker bar, or even an impact gun at certain angles. In my case even the stripped-nut-remover-bit-thingies didnt work. I had to sawzall the mount at the first rubber joint from the crossmember and then grind off the top of the stud that goes through the crossmember.

What worked for me was: 14 mm socket u-joint 10" extension 2 foot breaker bar

That, and taking the wheels off to get access.

The socket, u-joint, and extension should be 3/8" drive to be able to fit in there.
