94 Q 84K

My seat positioner quit working...disconnected the neg. battery cable for 15minutes...connected it back up, get in car, turn key to "ON" position, get out of car, shut door, get back in, turn key to "Off" position.

Turn key to "ON", set seat position to"1", turn key "OFF", nothing moves...

The seat and steering wheel motors will work manually...

Thanks...

Welcome to the "electrical gremlin world of the Q45" club.

My steering wheel going up and the seat going back after I turn the motor off have not worked properly for .... I don't know...2 years?

I just left my Q to Jerry Tucker for 3 1/2 days with a new BCM (body control module) and new Key Fob receiver. NOTHING!!!

I thought that they'd be able to install the new BCM the first day they had the car so that we could find the problem. But because they were really busy they did it 1/2 hour before I picked up the carand as I expected it was fine for avout 5 minutes and then back to square 1.The green lights started flashing again.

I think I'll leave the car with Jerry for 1 or 2 weeks next time!!

Is there a "cancel" button like on a Y33. I ask because I thought mine was broken until I discovered this button.

Both systems use slide potentiometers to create a reference position voltage for each function these voltages are digitized and stored in memory to get back to memory positions. If the potentiometers are dirty intermittent wierd digital [numbers] will try to be recorded...........out of range numbers. Measure the voltages as the seat is moved manually.

Clean or replace potentioners.........follow Consult diagnosis.

Whenever the FSM devotes 100+ pages to diagnosing a simple system you know it is far from simple----memory seats and and steering.

1. Open the drivers door2. Turn the key to the Run position3. Turn the key all the way back off, but don't remove the key4. Close the door5. Wait about 1 minute6. Open the door, the memory function should work now.

A couple of times I've been too anxious and opened the door without waiting long enough, if you do, just start the procedure over.

About once a year someone always askes this one. Someone should sticky this.

Well now that I've finished the front end, I'm back to the automatic seat thing now...

I did the diagnostic seat positioner V test, and got 9 blinks (vehicle speed control)

I'm assuming that's the one on the transmission?

Anyway, I've reset the thing 5 times... It works one cycle and then forgets...

My 94 is similarly neurotic. The memory seats work fine and the steering column tilts up fine when the key is removed, but the column does not come back down when the key is re-inserted. Go figure.

All the way up is a known constant position whereas your position is the unknown value [which is not stored correctly].

Test and clean the slide potentiometers.

Did you reset the door positioner's memory?

Till I was blue in the face....

I just noticed that the lights do not flash when using the remote to lock the doors, and sometimes only 3 doors lock.

The seat memory/ with door button, will work every two startups...and it will go to exit every two startups. I other words, it seems to miss a trip...Works, then don't, works, then don't...

Nothing makes sense. ****, I was gonna keep this car... Now I just don't know. I wish it would have started this crap before I went and bought and replaced parts...

Not really, but I have 2 Porsches, one needs motor mounts and A/C comp...The other needs a gas tank. Jeeze...

I didn't plan of having to work on a Japanese Car so dang much... Rear Bose (Crap) speakers have gone south, now the Passenger Rear Door won't lock... Before I can fix one thing, something else goes wrong...

"I just noticed that the lights do not flash when using the remote to lock the doors, and sometimes only 3 doors lock."

I had the same problem...someone here directed me to the door amplifier and that solved the problem. Very easy and inexpensive fix. The amp bolts to the door frame just behind the door panel. I paid around $70 for the part from Scottsdale. The amp also controls the console window switch, the door courtesy light and cig lighter light.

after replacing my door amp and my parking lights once again blinked I had a BFO (blinding flash of the obvious) It makes perfect sense for the lights not to flash if there is a problem with any of the door locks. After all the lights blink to let you know the car is locked, if one or more of the locks are not working...then your car may not be locked

The seat problem is not related to the window amp however.
