Here's a simple mod that to me looks cool - Replace the stock tail lights. I looked at the smoked ones too but liked the clear cuz they looked more like my Pathfinder. Trying to keep that family resemblence...

Remove the plastic panel in the trunk that's held down but little plastic screw/rivit things. You can pop these out with a flat-head screw driver and pliers. Be careful, you'll need them again.

Once the back plastic panel is removed take off all the 8mm nuts you see holding the tail lights and "240SX" bottom peice in place. You need to take this trim peice off to have better leverage when removing the lights.

Next clean off all the gunk that's been the seal for the past 14 years. The new tails lights will have this seal so get yours as clean as possible.

Finally put the new lights in being careful to tighten all the nuts back at about the same number of turns per nut. Make sure you use a "star" pattern to tighten them so not one single nut is getting tightened too much at any given time. The lights will start out sticking way out but after several turns will become flush with the body.

No doubt about it. The car looks newer with clear tails. BTW, you don't have to remove rear metal panel.

You don't have to it just makes it a whoile lot easier to remove the lights. Mine were stuck on pretty good and I didn't want to damage anything pulling them out. It was four more nuts plus it gave me the opportunity to clean it up

Yeah, that's what I figured. Mine got stuck pretty good too, but I pushed the whole thing really hard from the inside slowly and finally they came out. But if you do it in summer, it should be easier. I did it in winter. Anyway, looks awsome.

Can you tell me where you bought your tail lights and for how much?

I've been searching and the best price I've found is ebay.

Any leads for the best deal?

As far as I know, eBay is the cheapest place. About $140 shipped. Haven't seen cheaper than that.

That's what paid, $140 shipped. It was a lot more than I wanted to pay but they are well made and look good.

cmkelly,Have you noticed brake lights look kinda pinkish at night? I swapped bulbs with red ones and look MUCH better now. You should try that. Somehow that bugged me. I don't see amber turn signal bulbs on your car. Did you take the picture before you put the bulbs in?

I haven't really noticed it. It does appear, however, that one of the tail lights is a little pinker than the other even when they're not lit up. It's barely noticable but I can tell.

I have installed the amber lights but have not found dual-element red bulbs yet; haven't looked too hard but would like to replace the stock clear at some point...

I'll buy the old tail light from you! I need the one on the right.

This car/Jeep, I kid you not, lost control, jumped the curb in front of my house going backwords. He comes onto my property, still out of control of course, and hits my parked vert right in the back! This happened 5 minutes after I parked the car and took my 4 year old daughter out of the car!!!

The first three numbers to this guy's license plate was 666! I kid you not!

Also the car was parked very close to my garage door, and the crash sent my car two feet into the garage door damaging it! I usually park the car in the garage but I didn't because I planned to head right back out

And to top it off, it was later found out that his insurance was bogus!!!!!!!!!!

That 666 number now seems more fitting than ever!

lilredrocket is still a lilredfacedmad about it, but I got compensated with my uninsured motorist protection I have with my insurance, lost out on the deductable of course and they considered the car totalled, so I opted for the cash out.

What a mess!

hmm... what's winter in texas like? 70's? 80's? that's not winter. take those 0's away and you'll have the morning temps here where we have real winter.

anyways, clear tails always look awesome on verts. quick and easy.

I'm glad you and your daughter are alright but hate it for your vert. I'm keeping all the original parts for the vert in case I ever want to bring it back to completely stock. Try a junkyard; I'm pretty sure the coupe's taillights are the same and might be easier to find. Otherwise now might be a good time to go clear

i've got a set of coupe tails that i'd sell to you. do you want just the one or both? get a hold of me on aim (tuner4g63) or email ([email protected]) and we can work something out.

sorry about your luck. at least you got something and it doesn't sound like the damage was too extensive. fotunately your daughter wasn't in the car.

some people are so stupid.

Sorry about the accident.

Hey, seeing this thread reminded me that I need to pick up red bulbs to get rid of the pinkness.

That's the very first thing I did when I got my G-Corporation clear tails. It was VERY pinkish. 1157 is the bulb number.

I also bought these to get rid of amberness for the blinker. It's 1156 single.

Thanks, I'll see if Autozone has those 1157s in red.

I like the amber bubs on the turns! Plus, I wouldn't pass inspection without them.
