The problem with the FSM is it is torque specs without ARP hardware. I looked last night to see what the Specs for main and I couldn`t find it. It wouldn`t be a bad idea to have a sticky with the torque specs for stock and ARP. That way we don`t have to waste time looking for it.

for the head studs, just follow the FSM order (stud to stud) but do steps of 25, 45, 60, and then final TQ of 80....always worked fine for me...

I'm up for a sticky on some torque specs both ARP and stock hardware.I believe the AMS rods require a specific angle to be torqued with, or at least that's what the instructions that came with mine state.

We recommend Head: 70 ft lbsMains: 70ft lbsAMS or Crower Rods: 45ft lbs, you can disregard the torque angle if you wish, the engineers that made the rods have specific instructions for a specific bolt stretch. I will be torqing mine down to 45.

I have found recently that the mains distort slightly when torqued much beyond factory torque of 48 lbs (IIRC)... Unless you have had your motor align honed, please torque the mains to 60 lbs...

Oil squirters to 20 lbs

Thanks for the great info Ivan. Just another reason to order your parts from AMS not to mention great pricing, great service and valuable info!

We need to add the clearance info as well. Arias pistons .022 upper and lower ring gap.

How to align the thrust bearing.

I suggest we do a new thread with all this info and call it Engine building specifications.

OMG I remember the last thrust alignment thread... The diagrams I drew up in paint SUCKED!!! LOL... but I guess they got the point across...

I will have to get some info together and put it in the "how to" section of my forums....

Yea I started to copy some stuff and put it together but I wanted to make sure I had all the right info in it. That would be great if someone could put together basic engine building sticky. I just finished installing the crank and one piston rod. It is very humid outside and a friend of mine had to leave. So I am waiting for my next door neighbor 18 year old to help me finish the short block. He is still seeping
