[QUOTE=gniknave]So here's the story...
I really liked the Maxima I mentioned in a thread about a week ago, but I kept my options open and looked some more for a bit. I started looking for something more fun, a bit smaller but still roomy, good on gas, and available in manual transmission. I really wanted a Volkswagen Rabbit, but they're not in 100% production yet, so choices are limited. I looked at a Nissan Versa, but it's the same story as the Rabbit - not yet in full production and won't be for quite a while.
That brought me to Mazda. I had previously driven an RX-8 and liked it a damn lot, but it wasn't practical for what I needed. If I didn't need rear seat room, I would have bought an RX-8. Ok, wait that was a lie, I'd be driving a 350z. Anyway...
I drove a Mazda 3 in 5-speed and f**king loved it to death. I took it to some curvy backroads and it just stuck to the road like glue and took my throttle punching and downshifting, then just seemed to beg for more. It was comfy, had nice interior legroom front and rear, and I liked the utility of the hatch. Perfect car. Sign me up.
So I went in today and had them get me a Mazda 3 hatch in Whitewater Pearl. They had to dealer trade for one because the only one they had was a blue, which was the one I drove. The blue is a bit too 'out there' for me.
I hammered them like crazy during the negotiations. Almost walked out 6 times. Ended up getting a payment LESS than what I asked for, plus I negotiated them down to invoice, BUT... When I got them down to invoice I told them that they could feel free to throw in the Mazdaspeed turbo kit that's about to come out, for the full price. See the reason why I did this is because they'd make profit on selling the turbo kit, and it would make them something off the deal since they were selling me the car at invoice. Confusing? Basically, I talked them down to invoice, then they added in the cost of the Mazdaspeed turbo kit which brought the price back up to almost the MSRP. Win - Win.
So I'm waiting about 2 months for the kit, and I'll get it and have it installed. On top of that, I got free tires out of them for as long as I have the car, as long as I do my oil changes with them.
With all that, plus the fact that I'm in love with the car, I couldn't see any reason why NOT to buy this car. I also saw it's been getting awsome owner reviews on Edmunds.com.
As for the Q, it might be sold tomorrow to a fellow NICO member.
Now for the pics!
Enjoy the new ride. Maybe it's that the Zoom Zoom is closer in the pic, but it seems significantly taller than the Q.
