Do like I did,

Buy a bottle of Downy fabric softener concentrate then place it in the trunk without checking to see if the cap is on tight. Then..... drive like a madman so that when you get home, the bottle is laying up in the corner somwhere with the cap 3 feet away from it. Now that your trunk liner is soaked (along with everything else, take it out and hose it for an hour or two (you'll never get it all out) then dry it in the sun for a week.

Aaaah... freshness slaps me across the face everytime I enter.

Better than that bottle of vodka tipping over.. Get pulled over.. "officer i SWEAR I wasnt drinking"...

I still buy those $10 factory air freshners from Joe. Am I really weird that one of my favorite smells is the Q45 smell?

In US models, it is under the driver's seat.

Man, I used to have that problem in the past. Cleaning up after a party, I'd haul the garbage off to the dumpster behind a chinese restaurant the next morning, loading the trunk of my Mazda with trash bags and beer bottles. Sometimes I'd forget about it and go straight to work. So on a hot day, I'd get in the car and it would smell like a brewery, and then I'd remember what I did the night before.

i try to shower regularly. that usually helps! off topic, but did anyones car come with factory quarts of paint in the trunk? all though my car was second hand, i knew the owner, it was always serviced at infiniti in cali and never in any accidents??? they were tucked all the way to the left in the little compartment under the mat. it was the pearl base and the clear coat. brand new never opened with what looked like factory labels on them? glad those never burst!

Quarts??? No... I can't imagine that came from the factory. Maybe the little tubes with the brush caps... From what I understand the Pearl paint was particulary expensive, so I doubt they would include that much just for touch-up purposes. Could be wrong though...

So a U.S. 90' Q has air-freshener under the driver's seat? I have yet to see it.

My 90 Q has the "fragrance unit" built into the bottom (facing forward) of the driver seat. It's a tray that slides out so the fragrance unit can be replaced.

COOL! Just checked mine, It still had the cap on it. Seems to have a lot of fragrance still in it. I love finding "new" little things like that. This site is invaluable!

i thought it was a joke, but its for real--got one for the '94 in Jan.....

unscrew the front seat frame finisher, pop out the black 'plug' about 1cm X 3cm from the backside, and install your 'fragrance unit' from IoS.

all i did was pry the little cap out with a screwdriver and and then slide the freshner in... I "refill" the freshner every so often with a cologne of choice...

Takes all of 1 minute

LOL Wes... cologne of choice? Your car must smell like a gigolo mobile.

Awesome.

My grandpa gave me a bottle of techron (he and my uncle work [worked in my grandpa's case] at the local Chevron refinery--they've got the stuff coming out of their ears) when I was at his house a while back. I tucked it under my seat, and drove home. A couple days later I noticed a strange smell--I thought it was the armorall I'd used on the dash. A couple more days later I cleaned the car. I found the techron--my grandpa had neglected to inform me that he'd already broken the foil seal. My CD wallet, several issues of Car and Driver, PC Gamer, and PopSci, plus my carpet, were all nice and soaked.

Fortunately my car was scheduled for a full detail at the dealer the next day.

I can't say the smell was unpleasant. Actually kind of "new-car-ish."

But damn...don't ever stick fuel treatment products under your seat without checking the foil seal.

Thats right.. I only wear my snakeskin docksiders with no socks in the Q

Actually Ive found that one of my colognes actually smells a LOT like the factory air freshner..... I think its my armani cologne, but probably cheaper to justbuy the $10 freshner than it is to use armani cologne
