I want an LS7 powered Solstice.

And a Charger SRT-8. And I'll straight pipe them both and piss off my neighbors.

well, the Solstice is a smaller, underpowered, and short wheelbase car. I think it would drift similar to a Miata. I think Millen's style is more the big-car but who knows, im interested to see what happens.

Under powered? it may have less torque than the GTO, but its got alot more power than some of the other cars in formula D

it's got 500hp so it should have a very good tq #and its' a slaller car, so that is more power to the groundit should be great at drifting despite the short-ish wheelbase.

yeah, thats what i was thinking it should have good tq # but I was just pointing out that I dont know how the turbo 2.0 running on e85 will compare to the V8 GTO's tq #

Any body have the numbers from the GTO?

EDIT

found some more info on the cars:Solctice550 HP @ 7800 rpm est.450 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm est.

The solstice is a damn good car. Anyone who hates on it has a terminal case of the stupid.

GRM did a comparison where it completely trounced the new miata and actually came within hundredths of a second of a race-prepped 2nd gen miata.

Now, if only GM would stop going bankrupt and release a hardtop version.

Millen is pretty badass to watch... it should be intresting to see whats gonna happen on a light car with the solstice.

Hubinette sets up his cars stupid, he never has on power entrys. Half the time you can listen to him kick it out and then coast in until he clutch kicks at the apex agian.

I'm not his biggest fan.

That Solstice has an LS7 in it?

That thing must be a TERROR compared to the GTO.....that's awesome. I'd take an LS7-powered hardtop Solstice any day of the week.

And how many people bought FD RX-7s?

Retarded, retarded way to judge a car, especially since there are a number of other factors in play. First and foremost is of course GM's incredibly uncertain future. Buying a car that may not have any parts available for it and losing your warranty within a year is a rather spooky proposition.

if I had the money I would sooooooooo buy a solstice

but man is that thing gonna spin like a top with zero rotaitonal inertia and that much HP. hes gonna need a butt load of steering travel and because the car is short the angle won't look as impressive I can only imagine

Uh...It's just the opposite, dude. If you can find a solstice on a lot, you're lucky. There are people waiting in line for months for these cars.
HashiriyaS14 wrote:That Solstice has an LS7 in it?
Not sure about that one, but I know there is a company that'll do the swap and make it clean and legal...for a price. That's what I was referring to.

Right, but Mallet has said that for a little extra money, they'll do LS7s.

Actually it's probably more than "a little."

oh, and by the way, id bet red bull had something to do with the choice of car, theyre big enough that they can do stuff like that

its amazing how much money red bull is putting into race sponsorships

theyre now in:

champ car, IRL, grand am, a bunch of minor league open wheel stuff in europe, drifting, NASCAR, and they have 4 F1 TEAMS!

thats seriously probably close to a billion dollars, actually probably more

i know, im saying thats just in auto racing

i mean, each car in F1 costs 175 - 200 million for one season, and theyre running 4 cars!? wtf mate?

They have two F1 teams...they just run 4 cars. and try closer to 300M /team/year although STR is running for a lot less by using old motors and last years chassis effectively

thats why i said 175 - 200, thats per car, its like 350 - 400 per pair of cars (team) per season

and even if theyre on a lower budget, theyve obviously got a lot more money than other teams, judging by their level of success this year, they havent been all that far out of the points
