if someone does not mind, verify that I have my marks in the proper position for TDC. (knock pin for the exhaust cam is @ 12:00) I am a little paranoid when it comes to such things and i don't have anyone around to double check me.

you are right on the money...

engine is at TDC and your timing chain + cam gear lines up perfectly.

I can't see the colored links on your pictures, although they seem to be ballpark.

Needed a few more rotations, but i finally got it. Why doesnt anyone share that the colored links NEED to match up with the dots on the cam sprockets?

the colored links are there to set the timing chain with cam sprockets. You really dont need to match them up unless your doing something with the cam sprockets or timing chain itself. The big concern with getting TDC is having the cams in the 10 and 12 positions.
