Damn.......Ok.........here's what happened........possibly the worst day of my lilfe.

WARNING: This is long and detailed.

I had learned earlier that day at work that Amanda, a female freind of mine that I really like (just friends though ) was going to be moving to south Ga in a couple of weeks and not coming back............So I was kinda depressed and decided to go for a drive after work to make myself feel better (driving is my escape)

......Anyways I was driving a bunch of roads I've never been down before and I was on my way home and I decided to turn around and go back about 1/2mi to a set of banked s-curves that I like to take. But the turn for this road looks exactly like 2 other turn offs and I took the wrong one and ended up on a road I'd never seen before.

I was driving the speedlimit and didn't want to turn around because there was a car behind and in front of me so I wanted to wait for another road to turn around on...........I found it.........and on it I found a sign saying turns ahead, 25mph........so I couldn't pass that up and decided to continue on........the first few turns didn't deserve the sign but they kept getting tighter...........(freshly paved, flat, barely 2-lane road) and I was going around 30mph on this left hander when it turned into a blind turn and on the other side of the blind part it turned into a extremely sharp hairpin. I turned in, attempting a racing line and eased into the brakes to slow down, and, in-turn, the back end stepped out and I ended up BARELY in a 5ft deep ditch. It bounced the back end off of the embankement a little bit but it only wrinkled up my right rear quarter panel a tiny bit..........it's barely noticable. The left front tire was still on the pavement and I was sitting at a 30* angle with the right rear being at the bottom of the ditch.

The guy behind me stopped and drove me to the gas station down the street where I called a tow truck and a couple hours later we had winched the car out and I was on my way - $50............So I went back the way I came and went to my fav. gas station and filled up since It was the last station in town below $2.50/gallon......... I then decided to take the back roads home.

I got about a mile from the station and passed a cop as I turned onto Ooltewah-Ringold Rd. and accelerated to 40mph (I thought that was the speed limit)...........well about a mile later a car came flying up on my a$$ as I got into the turn lane for Apison Pike. He was flashing me his high beams and just acting crazy............As I turned onto Apison he hit his blue flashing lights...........Oh ****, it's that cop...........****!!

So, I turned into the parking lot to my left and parked and he told me he had me in radar going 44mph in that 30 zone........I explained that I wasn't aware that it was a 30 zone and he complimented me on my car (he's a Nissan fan ) and he said it'd only take a sec..............A few minutes later 2 more cops showed up as back up and the origional cop came to my window asking me to step out.

He said he was only going to give me a warning for the ticket, but there was a problem............He asked if I had any unpaid tickets and being confused I said, "Not that I know of".........so he asked me to hang tight a sec and I suddenly remember the ticket from Signal Mtn..... 2 YEARS AGO that I forgot to pay. I told him about that and he said that they sent a notice to me in Nov. I didn't get it because I moved and they have the wrong address. He said I couldn't drive home and needed to call a ride.

We finally agreed to leave the car where it was parked and he drove me to the police station to wait for my mom to show to pick me up........he let me sit in the front seat, and we only went because it was 40* outside and I had no jacket so he took me there to stay warm.

The other cops that showed wanted to book me and take me in and impound my car, but the cop that pulled me over was very nice and felt bad for me so he let the car stay parked and didn't put me in jail. My court date is April 19.

My mom came and picked me up at 2:45 am and she went with her friend and got my car today.

The damage: Loosing a really close friend, $50 for towing, a dented rear quarter pannel, $150 to pay off WAY overdue ticket, $?? - alot to pay for getting license back, $?? - alot to pay for fines for driving on a suspended license, I now have no license at all, and consequently I have to ride my bmx bike 10 miles to work everyday now, or drive w/o a license.

Just before all of this I had quit school (no major = no will to go to class = drop and/or F, and I've never gotten and F before, guess there's a first time for everything), both my main oil seals on my motor went out simoultaneously (sp?), one of my best friends broke his ankle, and I realized I'm not going to be able to go to Florida to live with my dad now this summer.

The worst part of all of this is def. knowing I'll be loosing Amanda in a few short weeks though. I really do love her and I know I'll probably never see her agian after she leaves.

I know it could've been alot worse...........I could have easily gone all the way into that ditch, or worse flipped into it if I were going any faster and/or wasn't as good of a driver as I am (it takes skill and some luck to keep the car from going all the way in like that) And the cop could've easily impounded my car and made me spend the night in jail..........I got off easy in that case.

It all happens at once, doesn't it? The week after my fiancee left the ring on my desk, my dad had a stroke, I had to resign my job, and my '78 Olds blew the radiator AND headgasket. It's just how **** happens sometimes. What matters now is how you deal with it. Take that 10 mile bike ride, and turn it into an advantage. Getting into better shape, maybe. Just keep your chin up, and keep on fighting. That's what makes all the difference in this world - plenty of people get knocked down. It's the ones that keep getting back up that end up winning the match.

I edited.......check the last paragraph.

That's why I believe everything happens for a reason.

You got lucky in many ways too! As long as you learn from it and avoid making the same mistakes in the future, it will turn out all right in the long run.

Take care,

If they charge you with failure to appear you are screwed buddy. That's a minimum of 500 bucks and some time in jail.

I agree with chopp. What you do now is what really matters. Maybe this opens doors to save money for mods? Or maybe a new car?

Having said that it will be hard. Especially when you it is rainy, cold, etc.

I had my license suspended too when I lived in Houston. Stupid tennager mistakes. However, since then I have not had a single ticket for over 10 years. Hopefully you will learn from this.

Alright, a lil update today........

I payed the ticket on Signal and they said that we were all good and they were going to send it in to Nashville that I am clear to apply to get my license back now.

The cop told me to be at the police station to meet him to finish the paper work at 8:00am sharp and he'd do his best to make it easy for me to get off with as little as possible at my court date......(told me this while we were waiting at the station) and then I'll just have to do whatever to get my license reinstated at the DMV.

And the car is fine.........Just a wavy rear quarter and a new gap where the bumper meets that quarter panel.

Edit.........here's the rear quarter............damaged below the gas hatch

Yeah, ever heard of the butterfly effect??

This world is perfect how it is...........if you could go back and fix one thing you would only make it worse by creating more, most likely worse problems.

If I hadn't gone off there the next sharp, blind curve on that road would've got me and I'd gone off a 10ft drop into a wooden picket fence instead of a ditch.

If I hadn't seen that sign I wouldn't have gone in a ditch at all.......but whose to say I wouldn't have gotten in a major collision with a sleepy driver (it was midnight) swerving between lanes??

I lost my license............was this to keep me from doing my daily random drives for a few weeks?? Or was it to keep me from being able to go out with my friends for a while?? Who knows.........it makes my brain hurt to think of the possibilities.

real happy to hear the cops were really fair to you. as much as i would hate to be in that situation, it could have been a lot worse. its kind of a consolation when you know that even though they are doing their duty by enforcing the laws you broke, they do what theyre supposed to do and take care of you.

glad to hear that youre all about getting yourself back together again, and riding that bmx to and from your destinations should only help since healthier = happier.

good luck.

Sorry about the lady. Losing friends like that SUCKS.

After I wrecked my truck I've been riding around on my bike mostly (and my inner-tubes don't hold air for SCHIT), and occasionally driving the 240. My mom is in charge of that now. My girl loves my legs, and my lungs thank me for excercising some of the smoke out :p Not being able to drive has it's perks (believe it or not), but I really really can't wait until June 3rd

I hopefully will be getting my license back in a month.

I just have to pay all of my fines and junk to get it reinstated. Will prolly total at least $500+.

I had to drive to work today.........It was scary because I was following a cop when I entered the mall perimiter drive. I REALLY don't want to go to jail.

Alright. I figure I'll let everyone who cares (probably no one) know the outcome of all of this.

Amanda is gone now. I miss her. But before she left she helped me be a better person. She tought me not to be in love with being in love and obsessive (as she put it) and you (the mic, One love, etc) may have noticed no more hopless romantic posts/replies........that's why. I get it now.

I had a problem with Nashville getting my license back and it took till Apr. 24th to finally get it. $140 fine and $19 for a new license.

The court date got pushed back to May 3. and I went and the charge got pulled down to a "driving w/o valid license" charge. $100 fine $30 court cost + tax.

I just made my car payment and had to pay two insurance payments to get my policy back to current.

So my life is some what back in order. I have the option of going back to school next semester, but I won't for a few semesters anyways. May go to a tech. school. who knows. I've become a better/happier person, I got my license back and my car runs perfect, Main seals fixed, random elec. issues fixed body damage still there from ditch, it's really not that bad. Check the sig, that's what that qp looks like, can you tell?? My point exaclty. Anyways it's cost me $500 or so to date and things are somewhat back to normall now. I don't drive as hard or crazy any more either, and am more mindfull of the speedlimit. I still have my fun on rainy nights and empty one way streets/highways though.

Hope things start looking up, as it appears they are.Remember, you're only as far away as you want to be. It may be a long drive, but it's always a possibility.

Good job getting it all under control!

And, yeah, surprisingly enough, we do care what happens to all our NICO members ... even when we get tee'd off at some of them some of the time (I don't mean you, of course).

i fell you man...

i only had 2 speeding tickets and the mutherfuqers suspended my license for 3 months, well i had no choice but to drive on a susp. my job relied on it, plus i had night classes also.

anyways i got thru 2 1/2 months of not being caught.... then im driving through town IN MY TRUCK not speeding not doing anything crazy.

there was a cop in front of me going SUPER FUKIN SLOW so i guess i got too close to him.

once the lane opened up into 2 lanes he pulled to the right and slammed his breaks and threw his lights on.

well i was like WDF MENG i didnt do anything wrong

he came up to my window and was like " you broke the 2 second rule"

then he came back and was like put ur hands on ur head then he yanked me out of the car and hand cuffed me and arrested me.

so basically DONT BREAK THE FUKIN 2 SECOND RULE

this guy was the biggest dikhead i have ever met in my life.

luckily the judge was a lil nicer and didnt extend my suspension

just a 200 fine and 12 months probation... FUK LYFE

EDIT: didnt notice how old this thread was... rofl
