HI EVERYONE..

I DID SOMETHING WEIRD THIS TIME... I took my 300zx caliper appart to paint it... and recently I read on the 300zx manual that you not suppost to unbolt 4 bolts... gosh.. well too late for that... now.. what happen is that once you open it.. there are 2 little black rubber rings, one on each side of the caliper... that is to prevent brake fluid from leaking.... I LOST 3 OF THESE THINGSSSSS!!

now anyone have any idea of that can i do?? or where can i find these i went to napa and the dealer and they dont have it.. they said is part of the caliper assembly...

How'd you loose them? I recently took apart my rear 300zx's to clean them I just kept the rubber gaskets, cleaned them and reused em. If I were you I'd either try to make new ones or search harder where you took them apart, they are bound to be around there somewhere man.

Good luck, Glenn.

no.A.) Dont reuse gasketsB.) Dont try to "Make" one (ok somethings you gotta make gaskets for but that is usualy liquid or paper gaskets

Goto autozone and see if they have a caliper rebuild kit for what ever Z calipers you have.

I don't think the seal rebuild kit includes the rubber gaskets that go between the 2 halfs. I bought a re-seal kit for the rears from http://www.courtesyparts.com. They might be a bit cheaper than pdm-racing. Anyways, I re-used the seals because they were in good condition and still had their elasticity and flexibility.

well i sent an email to the pdm rep. and he told answered:"None existant seal in any of Nissan's kits or part fiches. Do NOT losethese seals or damage them. I have not found a replacement for these ever."

WHICH IS NO GOOD NEWS...I WILL SEE IF I JUST USE THE SEALANT PASTE..

The Z32 FSM warns you explicitly to NEVER dissasemble the caliper halves.

I know the caliper rebuild kit doesn't come with them. I rebuilt my calipers last year.

AFter a lot of pain and search I finally found a solution to my problem.. and learn a valueable lesson.. I hope in the future this will help someone with my problem. - first of all, I found out that there is no such o-ring not from the dealer not from any where that i know.. the closest one i found was the o-rings that are cylindrical rings with the same size which is 2mmx8mmx12mm (thickness, inner, outer). They dont sell them individually and must be order from manufacturer in LARGE QUANTITY.- i went to all auto parts stores and they dont have anything similar, then i went to sears and found a plastic washer (0.13 each) with almost the same diameter. But unfortunately the outher diameter was 1mm off, i did not fit, plus it was made of hard plastic there could be an issue. Perhaps it fit, then what? there is a possible chance that it will either leave a small crack when i put the calipers together or the ring itself will crack because is made of hard platic.- finally, today, something came to my mind.. i was hoping it will work... after sears i rushed to pepboys and purchase one foot of fuel line for $1.29 with the same outter diamiter but smaller inner diammer about 2mm smaller. then i started cutting with an exact knife. I did cutted a good number of times. eventually i started getting good at it. it works. i am sure this will solve the problem. I will not look perfect but who can see it.. here are the pictures...

Picture of the fuel line ring in the caliper - fits perfect and does not block the flow.Picture of the original O Ring. The end.

yeah Id kinda have to go with this too...I know it sucks alot but I wouldn't wanna "see how long this will last" on the part that saves me from hitting a wall really, really, really hard...There are simply so many different kinds of rubbers that break down or dont break down when exposed to certain chemicles...I dont now which are which do you?

well.. These are the ones used for fuel lines found in pepboy I am not sure of the material.. I will ask a certified mechanic before installing them anyway.. I have couple friends that work in Nissan they should give me good advice..

I dont want to be insistent but.. wouldnt it be safe enough if the calipers are sealed tight so that no brake fluid could leak out?

Thanks guys for the advice...

I hope you cut them wider than the depth of that hole, they need to be squished inbetween the 2 halves to make a seal.

Yes, I did cut the wider than the original one.. and bolt the nuts really tight..

The only concern is if there is any chemical reaction with the fuel line rubber and the brake fluid...

Those the brake fluid get extremely hot??

its more the pressure involved in brake systems. fuel line pressure is at most 80psi on fuel injected cars. brake systems are over 10x that
