That is really cool taht Nico got the pix first.I'm not too keen on the rear end however it is a totally unfinished car so I'm assuming that it will only get better looking as it gets closer to production. Good score.

The body is JUST to cover the underpinnings - That's pretty common for a manufacturer to disguise the actual car underneath with a body of a completely different car. You're not looking at a "concept car" or a "redesign" here...

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Its like when you see spy shots of vehicles in Detroit with all sorts of werid body cladding and bonnets and fabric covers to mask the actual look of the car.

Yes, but by the picture, the body panels are molded/fixed. No cloth or tape there. Since the GT-R is relatively the same size/shape as the G35c, then it makes sense that they would use a modified G35c "body" to test everything.

Note how much wider the new "spy" photo is. They pretty much just took the G35 trunk and lights and pasted them onto the new GTR body. Look at how badly the lights fit to the body...

no, i dont think so. i think the bad fit is because of the giant fiberglass/plastic widebody rear bumper. the trunk lid looks okay in comparison to the lights.

yah, but that has nothing to do with the rear fenders and how far they extend past where the lights would normally go out to (even in relation to the trunk).

yep i see them all the time. saw a mazda or a toyota (it was night, couldnt clearly see the badge on the back) about a month ago cruising a highway around here. he would drive up a couple miles, turn around and do it all over again. they are usually completely covered in canvas with mesh over the lights so you cant really see the lines. i guess since they were using a g35 they really didnt need to hide much. it looks a lot wider than the current g35. im excited

what im saying is, is that truly the new gt-r body or just a widebody fiberglass mockup to cover the wider running gear?

I would say it is probably a wide-body G35 running the drivetrain...Then again, who knows?

^^ i second that notion. why have the true gt-r sides, front, etc and the rest of a g35? it has to be a mockup solution to cover the drivetrain.but whoever saw the sides and front of the car knows for sure.

highly possible that it is a mock up, but from the unfinished look of the G35 parts bolted onto there and the smooth, finished, painted, and completely lined up look of the rear fenders and their integration into the pillars... I don't know, I think its all speculation until we have some info which is more conclusive than a spy photo of some hot girls a$s

that pic was taken in phoenix AZ, im guessing avondale area. alot of the major manufacturers have test areas in phoenix because its the most extreme enviornment the car will see (in summer). it just so happens frisco was driving around and saw one lol. good to know they are getting close to a release having a test vehicle in public with no crazy cladding or cover-ups.

im not sure what kind of trees those are but they look like palm trees. i dont think they would be able to survive around here, but i could be wrong. for the record, i have lived here for 18 years and i have never seen a palm tree around here that wasnt kept inside.

That's because ALL Manufacturer plates that are owned by Nissan are MI. And that is true with nearly every car manufacturer. That is because almost every manufacturer's technical design center's are in michigan. My dad used to work for Nissan Corporate, and every car he ever "borrowed" from work had FL "registration only" tags. Even when we lived in GA and SC. That's because Nissan Southeast regional headquarters are in FL. Large companies can register entire fleets of cars all in one state, regardless of where in the country the car ends up for testing/training/etc.

Possible. I'd say it's 50/50 on whether it's the concept G or the GTR. But if it's the concept G, the drivetrain should be relatively similar to the current G. Unless they are testing the forcasted V8 G35 Coupe. We'll have to let time go by before we find out the truth.

He was probly just toddleing around on lunch or something, lol... U know Joe, when I still lived in Avondale, I saw a number of test cars, a lot of cars/trucks/suvs wearing the black fabric camo to hide the body design, it was pretty neat! -Dan

Yes, because it is the Manufacturer who owns the car They have exclusive rights to drive any vehicle on the road for testing. That is how cars become thoroughly tested before they ever go into production.
