Well my car is in for service right now getting a new transmission put in along with a couple other issues getting fixed. I know the Infiniti tech so he is doing to work on the side for me VERY cheap. Since I saved money up to change the transmission and didn't end up needing it I was thinking about upgrading my interior. The steering wheel in my car has been very worn since the day I bought it. It is actually worn all the way through and about to come off the top.

There is a place close near Dallas here that will recover your existing wheel and add wood in. I photoshopped a quick pic of it to see what you guys thought. It isn't cheap, but I think it will only add to how nice the car is.

Edit: they also recover the wheel with nice new leather, I am also thinking of getting them to do the gearshift too.

Looks good. Now if there was a way to get a wood shift knob, that would be perfect. Great photoshop work! I can't tell the difference.

Love it. Looks very classy. Thats one thing I have always liked about Lexus is their nice wood chip wheels.

How much does he charge to do this?

Same thing I was thinking, I think it really gives the interior an updated look.

I talked to him yesterday and he said with the real wood option that it would be $450. I didn't realize they use imported Italian leather and real wood. these wheels are truly hand made custom.

But they do have a fake wood option that he says nearly looks and feels the same. I am going to email him the specs for my wheel and he will let me know how much it should cost.

If it looks real enough, I would go for the fake stuff. Nobody would know but you.

Do they have anything besides wood?

Actually they do, I didn't even think to post the website. (Although it is horrid)

If you could get the Y33 wood steering wheel to fit on a G50 that would be the way to go since they are relatively cheap from a junk yard? It would also get rid of the stupid little horn buttons on my 1990 Q. This guy said the QX4 steering wheel was an almost direct bolt on as well.

Do you know if they could/would do a full restoration (matching)? Never really cared much for the 'bling-bling' effect on the 90-93 G50's. I wanted your feedback before I ask them.

I agree, wood does not appear appropriate in the 90-93. I was planning on putting a 2000 wood wheel on my 1995 and swapping the 1995 over to my 1990.

Looks dangerous if you have sweaty hands (when turning). I also worry about the princesses in Lexuses with a fistful of rings, wonder how they get a grip. Why not a matching wooden helmut and shoulder pads?

I like it, and it even matches the center console.

Yes they will. They said they will try to exactly match the color and stitching as it was from the factory.
