I've found bulbs to replace the burned out ones that many of us have in the seat controls, window controls, clock, heater control, radio, etc., that Infiniti does not sell replacements for. Unfortunately, I spent $35 a couple of months ago to buy a cruise control switch who's only problem was a burned out bulb.

As stated in the topic title, they are Radio Shack #7219 Micro Lamp. They are rated at 12.0V, 60mA, with a brightness of 0.15MSCP(?) and have a pair of 1" long wire terminals.

I removed the bulb from its plastic socket after unwinding the two wire legs, reinserted the new bulb, rewound the wire legs, cut off the excess, and reinstalled the repaired assembly. Each bulb took about 2 minutes. My instructions may not make complete sense but it's pretty self explanatory when you look at the bulb base. The best part is they cost only $1.49 for a package of two.

You'll need a very small screwdriver to unwrap the wire legs (a thin finishing nail with a sharp point would probably work), and a good pair of small wire clippers. I also used a magnifying glass balanced in an empty coffee cup. The bulbs in the door have a removeable blue shroud over them to dim the intensity but the cruise control switch bulb did not have a shroud (much brighter light). I swapped out 3 bulbs from different areas of the interior and the new ones are the same brightness.

Anyone out there need a like new cruise control switch cheap?

I tried a model train store a while back but they didn't have any large (!) enough.

Does anyone know if the rear defroster symbol on the rear defroster switch is supposed to be backlighted when the headlights are on? Mine dosen't light up but looks like it should.

Mine only lights when in use. No backlight.

Good information goody. Has anyone ever pulled apart the window switch in the center console? Doesn't seem so easy for bulb installation from what I remember. Do seat controls have lighting? If so I've never seen it. All my window switches are out as far as the lighting.

In my '94 all the window switches on the center console and all the seat switches on both doors are illuminated. Not sure about the 90-93's.

i might add that a quick google search of these shows that they also go by the part number 272-1092C. i was at radio shack looking for 7219 but the local store's numbering system didn't allow for a 7219. anyway, came back home and found that new number on the web. i can't verify for sure that they are the same, but that's what i found on the web, and if you go the store, might as well take that number with you too.

You are correct. I listed the P/N that was in bold on the package but the P/N you mention was a secondary # I probably should have mentioned also. Glad you were able to find them.

Hey Drew, Yes, they do light up, center consol is pretty easy, you simply pull it up the front part closest the armrest as you probably already know, then theres 2 screws holding each switch assembly to the shifter trim(1 assembly for left and right respectfully) . once thats off you can pop off a white plastic cover off the switch assembly and underneath youll find the bulbs.

Hardmoney...thanks... I can remove the center console in my sleep by now. I'm aware that the window switches on the center light up, just that I've had the switch apart and it didn't seem so easy getting to tiny the bulbs.

I was referring to the cruise control not being backlit when the console ights are turned on. Mine only lights when actually pressed.

Oh, sorry about that Drew, In any case I actually do a a response to your question. I tried replaced the bulb last night and boy was it a pain in the a**. Last time I did this on my other Q I dont remeber it being so hard.Anyway when you pull that white cover off youll see the bulbs covered by a bunch of yellow wires,I had to actually unsolder one of the wires that was directly over the bulb covering it up. hope that helps

Just replaced 6 various lights and it gets pretty easy. Also, the HVAC has replacable lights in there also (I replaced the defrost one). Gonna hit the dimmer knob next. By the way, is it supposed to stay in all the time or stay out (seems it would stay in till you push it in and it should pop out)? Also, anyone know if the O.E. Bose headunit has any of these replaceable bulbs in it? Thanks.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this obscure repair, so thought I'd tack it on to this one. I was replacing burnt out bulbs for button backlighting on the HVAC controls, etc. For my cruise switch, the "off" button was backlit, but the "cruise cont" button was not. This switch has an externally replaceable bulb for the green on-light, but not for the button text backlights. You must disassemble the switch to get at them.

Some tips: First, you must remove the bulb holder for the green on-light bulb, or it will hang up on the switch internals when you go to pull it apart. To open the case, it looks like you have to depress two tabs that are in slots. However, the tabs don't move - instead, pry the slots up away from the tabs and the two halves of the case will separate easily. Pull it apart inside of a plastic bag, otherwise, little springs and parts will fly everywhere. I never did figure out where the little A-shaped spring goes. The bulb holders are rubber, and you must thread the bulb leads on and off, similar to the external brown plastic holders.

They're all replaceable with the same bulbs. Remove the faceplate for access.

You've found one of the design flaws in the G50 that the Nissan engineers never fixed and none of us have found a solution for. The knob should stay in until depressed and then pop out so the interior lights can be adjusted. I have 3 of these from parts cars and none of them work properly. I thought I had a good one in my 90Q but even it now pops out the first time I hit a bump. Ignore it.

Don't try replacing the bulb in it either. It has none.

Goody are you saying the dimmer switch does not light up? I mean no disrespect Goody but it does indeed light up.The dimmer switch uses the same bulb found in the hazzard switch, defroster switch and cruise control master switch.

I went out to my car, turned the lights on and saw no light in the switch. Maybe my bulb is out also.

I'm checking one of my spares now.

EDIT: I stand corrected. It's a little darker now and my illumination switch does have a working bulb.

I just realized I'm the one who started this thread a few years ago after finding out from the local stealership that replacement bulbs were not available without buying the entire switch, which I did. For what I paid for that CC switch I could have bought enough micro lamps from Radio Shack to relamp the whole interior. Ticked me off.

I just replaced many of the switch lights in my car with parts from a local supply called Jameco. These bulbs have the same specs as the radioshack bulbs, but it has the same blueish rubber cover that the originals had. The price is much cheaper per unit versus the radio shack bulb.

http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... 1943916_-1
Jameco Part no. 1943916
Manufacturer no. CM8-A241

Instead of $1.00 per unit it is $0.30. I bought 20 bulbs for $5.00 using will call. But even with shipping and handling it would be about $13; you would only get twelve for that price from Radio shack.

If you live in the bay area Jameco is located in Belmont which is in between San Francisco and San Jose just off of 101.

Ok sir, sorry to call you out and I know this post is like 3 years old, but you claim right here that the Bose Head Unit has the same replaceable light bulbs as the HVAC display. My question to you is, where exactly?? I removed the face plate from the Bose unit and I don't see any replaceable bulbs at all. I have another thread open where I'm slowly replacing all my bulbs in my dash, cluster, etc with LEDs, but I don't see where they are, can you help me??
