Or whatever it's called. I've been thinking of taking this off for a while but don't know how good it would look since it's indented. Does anyone have a (preferably white) 240SX pic without it?

Here's what I'm talking about:

It peels back very easily, and would only require cleaning the grunge that was around it, but I still want to know what it would look like before rippin' it off.

Here's mine. Sorry for the huge pic, and I know it's not white. I recommend taking it off, but be sure to have some time on your hands when you start.

mine came off super easily except for the section on the bumper which was harder. It looks a lot cleaner without it.

Never used it on a car, so Id read the bottle/try on a test area to make sure it doesn't hurt paint, but goo-be-gone seems to be pretty good stuff for adhesives..

Here is what it looks like so far, without any cleaning yet. Click on the pics for larger versions...

But the thing is, how the hell do I get the stripe off the bumpers? It looks like they are wedged in there somehow... should I just stretch it and cut as near to the end as possible? Here is what I mean:

Goo Gone worked decently when I debadged my STi. Not sure what is used to hold the pin stripe, but when taking the adhesive off from where the badges were, heating it made it easier to pull the adhesive off.

Yeah, the actual stripe came off easily, it was just the adhesive that took some work. I think I used this **** called "Oops". Definitely test it on the paint in an unnoticeable area before going crazy with it.

Where are pics of your hatch?

Okay well I got the stripe off the quarter panels that were wedged in by just pulling. But the bumpers are a different story...

It seems that the sides that had the stripe used some type of vinyl material, but the front and rear bumpers are different. They have some crappy material that pulls off in two layers. The bottom layer won't really come off by simply picking a corner and pulling it off. I have some Goo-Gone, should I just use that and a fingernail with patience, or what?

That's how mine was. I took the time on the front bumper but didnt even bother on the back because my car is black anyway so its not too much of an eyesore. good luck

Okay, I removed it on the front bumper driver's side. Clean

You, too, with a little elbow grease, paper towels, a credit card/plastic putty knife, Goo-Gone, and wierd looks from your neighbors due to your frustrated cursing yells, can rid yourself of your pinstripe.

I'll finish the other side of the front and the back bumper tomorrow, since it's getting dark.

A blow dryer doesn't really help... this stuff only gets gummed up and just as hard to get off. Peel the top layer off then work the Goo-Gone and plastic tool on the adhesive below.

Edit: Noticed some drip spots where the Goo-Gone was - remember to wipe it off with a wet paper towel after you're finished

Yeah, I think you'll like looking at your car a lot better w/o the stripe, especially with it being white. Nice work my man.

This man knows what he is talking about, a sample credit card was my main weapon in my arsenal when I removed my pinstripe. It also is a lot easier when you trim the credit car to the size of the pinstripe, that way you can just run it down the indentation.

I used 3M adhesive remover, a razor blade (for pulling up the tape in between the cracks) and gojo detailing tools. Another thing i recommend since it's colder out now... a hair-dryer to warm up the adhesive so it's easier to pull off.

I did use a razor blade to barely start the corner then pulled from there... be careful not to scratch your baby up!

It'll be completely done tomorrow, I'll post the rest of the car.

yea...goo gone is paint safe...i know bc i hit a yellow spray paint can and it put paint all over the side of my car. just put it directly on the car and let it sit for a few sec...then wipe off. or put it on a rag and do it that way.

and mine was taken off when the car was repainted.

Okay, I'm done. Here's the final product:

.....Before...................................After.....

Yay, no pin stripe. "After" pics look a little worse color-wise since it's later in the day. And they're kind of blurry for some reason, oh well.
